hi everyone
right i've been using clinique skincare and makeup products for a while now and just got to the point where i dont think their doing anything anymore.
my skin looks awful and i keep breaking out!

so i thought i'd get everyones opinions on what products they think are best,
one of my friends is telling me to switch to clarins and another says estee lauder
oh and i dont like dermalogica even though i have to use it at work lol

any suggestions?

I both work with & use Decleor on myself. It's made a huge difference to my skin & that of my clients.

Clinique is horrid, in my opinion.
I use only the products which I stock in my salon: SwissDermyl, Cozmetic Lab and Blinc.
People are kind enough to tell me I have lovely skin, and I get a lot of business for makeup lessons in Cozmetic Lab, so I reckon it all works!

I wanted to start using professional products, lots of geeks recommended Environ, so I contacted them and asked them for a salon in my area, and never had a response, so that's one of my list.:irked:

So Calla, how do I go about finding someone in or around Northampton who can look at my sun damaged skin, and loose skinned neck so that I can start using your product line. I've seen your photo and your skin is amazing:eek:
Oh and in reply to the thread starter, I wouldn't bother with over the counter stuff if you can use professional products, they are far better and you use a lot less of them so the cost is not that much more for very good results.

Couldn't agree more. I used it for a short time and it gave me the worst rash ever! It was as if i was using sulphuric acid on my face!!! :irked:

First of all I would ask on here for skin geeks in your area. I offer a completely free, no obligation skin analysis where I cleanse the skin, have a jolly good peer through a mag lamp and then offer my unbiased opinion. Have a squint for salons in your area and I'm certain sure that there would be at least one or two who might help. SwissDermyl is based in Hinckley - 32 miles from you, and I would happily recommend their salon - 01455 891785. Give them a call and ask them for salons closer to you if you feel that they're a bit far away.

As we all know, word of mouth recommendation is by far the best. Is there anyone you know whose skin you admire close to you?
Give me a shout if you need any more info
:)

I use Environ and I have it in my salon too. For make up I use anything!:) I was once told that Clinques toner will remove nail varnish!

That is such a shame. Pity you're not nearer to me and I could help. Maybe it would have been better to phone them?

I use a little bit of clinique - not particularly their 3 step anymore however their masks are quite good as well as the gel moisturiser. I love love love the Joe Malone moisturiser its a bit pricey but a pot of it lasts me about 6 months. The syrum is also good! x

Always take your cleansers and toners down to your neck, when rinsing off, always use a neck product, preferably Decleor:green:...and always use an spf the higher the better, preferably 25.The neck and decollotage is always exposed to all weathers and people just tend to stop at the chin and forget the area between the chin and the bust:eek:

Very good advise, I always do, but a combination of years working out side and loosing 3 stone has taken its tole:eek: My sun block is sp 30 and just recently our union put a notice up pointing out to drivers that a summer shirt/blouse is only the same as sp6 so if you are out for the day put your sun block everywhere, same as you would for a trip to the beach:hug:

When losing alot of weight the skin can tend to look "haggard" to coin a phrase...as before the skin would look more plump because more weight is distributed...if i am making sense...:lol:

So always use products that contain firming ingredients and that can aid in the firming process...Prolagene gel from Decleor is what i have always used for 15 years now...started using it for its healing properties for my acne prone skin, however it is really a secret within Decleor treatments to use an an anti ageing formula,as it knits the fibres of collagen production, and really taughtens the skin.

You would use it under your usual day cream, and because it is a gel like texture, instantly absorbs into the skin leaving no residue, can be used ALL OVER the body and face aswell, thus saving money on using all kinds of lotions and creams if you do not have the time...and it still has the same formula when it was used in tightening the skin for slimming treatments way back in 1974...:green:

I applaud you for losing the weight...so keep at it and NEVER compromise on your skin care to maintain the new look:hug:

I agree, Gel Prolagene is fantastic for firming the skin, and remains one of my best sellers!

I don't use anything

No creams, no cleansers....nada, nada, nada.

I wear make-up but I put it on in the morning and by the evening it has gone....usually from swimming or a shower or something....but I never take it off purposely.

Anti-ageing and all that stuff....nah!

I don't get spots and yes I more than likely have lots going on with my skin if you look closely enough but I have only ever had any problems if I have used creams and cleansers....so I don't.

Maybe I will regret it later in life but as yet I save my money....and keep my face ( and body ) nice and plump to keep those wrinkles at bay

Make-up wise I don't like Clinique either....strange that.

I use Estee Lauder ( great mascara ), Dior and Lancome....with bits of other brands thrown in here and there ( Spanish stuff )

:Scared: waiting to get shouted at for not using lotions and potions :Scared:

To be honest until recently the only thing I ever used on my face was warm water and a non fragrance moisturiser from Boots. I once saw a documentary and apparently the French women on the programme swear by rinsing their face with warm water but they rinsed several times over using running water if I remember correctly.

However since I have developed acne rosacea I do tend to use a gentle facial wash, cleanser and moisturiser, I know I'm bad as I do not do this every day. I am currently going through samples from various skin care ranges to help me decide which skin range to use. So far I have been impressed with Susan Molyneux really cleared my skin up. Have yet to try Swiss Dermyl as yet.

I used to use Oil Of Ulan (now oil of o'lay)... until I started getting some strange rash on my face that resembled perioral dermatitis, but the experts were telling me it was just infected pimples?? Nothing skin specialists perscribed made the rash go away...

I used home made products just for fun and the rash went away, now I make and use my own skin care range - & I will never go back to main stream products. :)

I use No 7 make up, and a while ago I bought one of their face creams as I had tried SO many (shop bought!) and nothing worked on my really dry skin on my face - but this did. I was SO impressed with it. I am quite bad at looking after my skin, I only use water in the shower then face cream. I was thinking of investing in a good toner, cleanser etc... I was going to go with No 7 as their face cream worked so well for me. What do you think?

I would sing Decleor's praises, it is absolutely fantastic!! Everything about it, the effect, the texture, the smell...they are all the best I have ever tried, and I have used all different. It is quite pricey but you only use a little bit of product, so it goes a long long way. For a more budget friendly brand, Simple is great. I combine the two. Here is my skincare routine;

Morning:
Simple Foaming Softening Face Wash
Decleor Mist (used as a toner)
Decleor Aromessence Neroli
Decleor Flower Nectar Moisturiser

Evening:
Simple Cleansing Lotion
Decleor Essential Balm

People often comment on my skin, and ask me what I use, I am proud to say these products are great. I tried Clinique and for the first time in my life i got bleackheads, i didn't like it at all.

thanks everyone :) lots of good advice
