Hi geeks

I just managed to bag a 4p flight to Edinburgh for a group of us to go for my hubbys birthday.

Its in october.

Any one recommend anywhere good to stay or things to do...bars / restaurants / places of interest to visit?

Many thanks

AMb x

Hiya! Me and my boyfriend went a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it! We stayed at the scotsman which is a little pricey but so beautiful. Has a great pool and spa too. We did a tour of the city on an open top bus but the highlight was exploring the haunted vaults! It's a night time guided tour around the old part of the city and vaults. Didn't see any ghosts (thank god!) but its so scary! Really fun, but not for the faint hearted! We also went to the zoo for a little light relief. Sorry, I could ramble on about Edinburgh all day!! :hug:hey thanks for that !

Places of interest would definitely include Edinburgh Castle (it actually IS very interesting, honest!) and The Fingertips Centre, LOL!!! The Royal Mile, the Observatory on a clear day, ALL the restaurants and MOST of the pubs!!!!

It's a lovely city to just 'wander' in. I can recommend hotels, etc. Let me know what you want to do and when.

are you in the center of Edinburgh? thats a defo visit for me then:hug:

We're arriving Fri pm...i'd seen 3 possible places to stay..

tailors hall, The point....or some random one i found called the hedges which sounds COOL !

We are roudy...and fun loving....so maybe a guest house as opposed to a hotel is a no no !

Edinburgh castle is a defo...somewhere nice to eat on the saturday would be good....

For Friday night i'd come across a place called 'scruffy murphys' any good?

Thanks again x

4 pence ! BUT:green:by the time they charge the 'extra's like tax...check in..bag etc it was £45 return....still cheap !

That's a brilliant price!! Well done to you for bagging it!! You'll have a great time there...it's a gorgeous place to visit

When you come to the top of the hill, not too far before the castle, on your right hand side is the Camera Obscura. You can get a good live view all around Edinburgh, and it is quite interesting. x

I love staying at Ricks Beautique Hotel right in the centre of Edinburgh. You might be able to negotiate a deal at this time.

You'll have a fabidoo time x:)

Yes, Tiger Lily is def THE place to stay if you can get a decent deal anyway:eek:

Tiger Lilys is gorgeous place to eat and drink, do fab rasberry mojitos, also the Dome on George Street is worth a visit. We stayed at the Marriot at the Airport as went when the Rugby was on, and all hotels were full. We got a great deal and the buses run every 5 minutes into the centre. Would definitely stay there again. Marriot was on Glasgow Road. xx

We've stayed at the Ballantrae Albany Boutique Hotel last year, and highly recommend it. Amazing rooms!

I think it's george street (?) that has all the really cool bars on it where we ended up. Right down at the far end by Charlotte Square there's a handful of really nice places that always seem busy.
