Hello geeks and geekets,

I am wanting to purchase a was kit at excel next week but i am unsure which one to choose as there are so many on the market at the moment.

I am still training at college but want to practice at home on friends and family. At college we use hot and warm wax.

I do hopefully want to go mobile when i am qualified so i have to take this into consideration too.

I have looked at those cute egg pots where you put tubes into the heater to warm up and have disposable applicators - does anyone have any experience with these also.

Thank you for your help and advice as always.

My recommendation would be to buy a Hive 1000cc heater, as it's so versatile. Heaters like eggpots and phd and rollers are fine, but they end up costing you more in products and disposables, which in turn eats into your profit. Jmho :)

Hi If you are looking to go mobile then it is much better to get roller/phd etc. No risk of spilt wax and heat up fast. Time is cut down on application. Yes you can spend more on consumables but if you clean your roller heads they can last a long time. If you are really cost conscious then you can reuse roller cartridges (heat wax and pour into the cartridge) so there are ways around it. You also avoid spills on clients carpets etc. Habe a good look around and get what suits you.:)

hi why dont you have a try at roller wax less mess and much quicker application ! x

I have used a roller system and I appreciate they are quick but my bin was always full of empty cartridges and me and landfill don't get on :)

I don't think I could cope with the faff of refilling the cartridges and I didn't enjoy cleaning the rollerheads either. I personally think the ease of roller waxing is over-rated.

My advice is keep it simple!

I have the eggpot and hate it!!! Takes ages to heat up and the wax tubes never seem hot enough and the applicators clog up easily its a real faff I would steer clear!:hug:

I have the Clean & easy roller wax system and just love it,
i wouldn't say it costs more as the wax goes on much thinner so you use less wax and it is more comfortable for the client pain wise with the wax application been thinner hth

Thanks guys,

Thanks all, i will look at the links posted.

At college we are have been show to use hot wax for underarms and bikini and warm for everywhere else. In the "real" world does everyone else use warm for waxing everywere?

We get taught at college to do this but we are also told to do what we feel more comfortable when we are out in the market.

Thanks again

I think it best to make sure you can wax the old fashioned way really well before moving onto rollers if you are just training.

Hive do a large heater that you can buy extra buckets for so you would be able to practise your hot, strip and even parafin with one heater.

If you want to become an all round serious waxer you ideally need to use all kinds of wax.I use roller for legs because it is mega quick, pot spatula and creme wax for bikini and underarm and i have also just bought some non strip film wax which i am really enjoying and is best if you want to do intimate waxing, hollywoods etc.

I think more and more therapists are starting to use hot wax again.I think it went out of fashion because it is a lot more expensive as you cant reuse anymore.
The newer film waxes can be put on very thinly and are more economical although you will have to charge a bit more.
A good waxer will be able to wax any area well and comfortably with warm wax but in my opinion hot or film wax is better for underarms and bikinis in comfort and results.
Also not all warm waxes are the same you may have to try a lot before you find the one you will like.

I use warm wax and hard wax, whatever I think is appropriate for the client at the time, but generally warm for legs and hard for bikini, underarm and face. Always hard wax for brazilians & hollywoods.

I got a unit from a company called Depilieve at the show last year. It's a roller system but like guns. I got a full kit for £60 - Duel Heating unit, two guns, 12 carts, 4 bottles of pre/after wax lotions, cleaner, ampoules, strips. I was well chuffed as it was alot more online : (smartbuy-catalogue.com product RODK) Don't know if they'll be there this year but it's an excellent system. Really pleased with it. :)
