Morning, has anybody else experienced a client coming out in little white spots after you've spray tanned them.

This has happened to me twice, first on a medium skinned lady when i was doing trial runs after my training before i started charging then again last night on a fair skinned client of mine. It's the first time she's had a spray tan with me and after we'd finished the spots strarted to come up just on her arms and chest. Her chest also started to look a bit patchy but i think she may have touched it after i'd finished. The rest of her body was fine. The first client it happened to the spots just came up on her arms but I'd had a problem with my gun that day and i've always thought it was that.

Last night's client said that she's had a shower earlier and had no products on her skin, but she did mention that she comes up in these spots sometimesbut i didn't know if she was just being nice as I was quite concerned. Is it some kind of reaction??

Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

i now of these to reasons hun
  • side effects of any medication that is being taken,
  • skin fungal infections, which start in the hair and fall over your body
hope it heps but most white spots are sunbed related like presure points etc unless your clients are on a bed before hand lol ??

that's interesting about meds because the first client it happened to was on anti deps but my client last night said she's not on any. Also the white spots weren't there before the tan so could it still be a skin fungal infection? She defo hadn't been on a sunbed x

Is it possibly an issue with the client not exfoliating sufficently before her tan, or is that too obvious???

I'm actually starting to wonder if the client last night was on meds but didn't want to say

dyou not have client consultation forms b4 a tan ?? that should contain medical info including meds ect so you can mention to them poosible reactions ect?

Yeh I do consultations for all my treatments but she said she's not on any meds, I'm wondering though that if she was antidepressants though that she may not have wanted to say. Also a friend said it may have something to do with the melanin in her skin.

Hi,
The other reasons that this may happen is due to the menstrual cycle. Strange things can happen, i have a client and everytime she is on her period she has small circles, on her arms that don`t tan. I also have a customer that has larger white circles that don`t tan, just above her armpits and i think that this is sweat glads. The other reason could be sun damage, if some one has been burnt by the sun, though there may not be visual scaring , it may not tan as well, or not at all.
I hope this helps. :)

My Daughter had a spray tan a while a go and this happend to her because she exfoliated with something with oils in it ,

also has she sprayed any anti perspirant on her body at all ?

also like Ruth said she may not have exfoliated properly :) x minky

Sometimes when I ask my clients to to put vaseline on the palms of their hands and finger tips....they subconsciously touch themselves..and hence they get white patches when tanned.

Also ointments, plasters and oils used the previous day also brings up white patches. They should exfoliate from head to toe!!
