Right.. Im already enrolled to start NVQ nail services 2 at college starting September, but so many of you talk about CND so I have been looking at the website.

Seems to be one of the better brands out there from what I can tell, but Ive now realised they have a training centre about 30 miles from my house, so I'm in 2 mindd about signing up and doing their foundation course over the 5 days? or do the year long course at college?

Obviously the time difference is one thing, but the cost to me is going to be huge, but I was planning on doing the conversion course after and I have to buy the kit for college so wont be too much difference in cost in the long run. but if I can find a way to raise the £600+ needed would you recomend going to the CND training instead?

Help please I'm feeling very confused now

Hi im afraid i cant be of much help as im kind of in the same position as you, only a little further along the road so to speak.

I was having real trouble deciding which was going to be the best route to take college or training with someone like cnd or ezflow etc. I am just coming to the end of a vtct nail art course at my local college and have to admit I haven't been very impressed really. Nothing to do with the tutor by the way she is great but just the lack of support she has had, aswell as us from the college, and the resources have been terrible.

The courses at college have also been described to me by a tutor as 'boring'! so if they think that I dread to think what they would be like. So basically my decision has been made I'm doing my training with cnd (yayyy), like you after reading what other geeks on here have to say about them I think I would be mad not to really.

But do your research first before making decisions as I know that colleges do different courses and yours might be really good, just don't drive yourself mad with the decision like I have for the last three months!:green:

Hey hun
My experience of college training wasn't that great, I found that my college training was out of date and I learnt so much more on this site than I did with my course, I know not all colleges are like mine but I felt as if I wasted my hard earned cash on my college course and in the long run I have paid out more by redoing my training, CND is a great product and their customer service skills are excellent and their education is up to date and you can do no wrong by going straight to them for your training.

i would choose a brand then do the training with them, i use CND and i have been very happy with the customer service, products and training. If i could go back i would have def. choose this rute, as i have wasted time and money, also even if you decided to do the course at college you would still need to do a conversion class. CND also offer 121 or skill building classes 'which is what i am booking on soon' and you can then concentrate on what you are most struggling with. Hope that helps, :)

Hey, I was in the same position as you, and after reading other similar threads decided on brand training, I satart next week with Young Nails, looking forwards to it!!

I definitely recommend brand training, and personally I did my brand training with CND. 5 years down the line I am a busy working Nail Tech and I know I did the right thing - great education, fab products and sound back-up and support when I need it...... Ticks all my boxes.

I would also recommend brand training only because of the training I received from college with regards to enhancements. I can't speak for your tutor, but the lady who taught me in college was an 'all rounder', she didn't solely train nails so at times it was like the blind leading the blind. I trained with CND last year and I'm so glad I did. Good luck with your choice of training x

Hi:hug:
I would def rec CND I did my foundation l & p/Brisa/mani&pedi earlier on this year and the training is second to none plus they are so helpful if you do have any probs.
Also I didn't have a brilliant experiance at college many years ago:cry:haha, the tutors just seemed to be there for the money there was no passion like you get with brand training.

Hi, Ive completed my NVQ2 and 3 in Nail Services at my local college. The NVQ3 was for nail enhancements which luckily we were taught using CND products and had a final exam which was by an educator of CND. If I could do it all again, I would just go straight to CND and do all of the training with them. Because now I am going to have to do a conversion for Brisa, Manis and Pedis. Hth xx

thats one thing I know about the college.. the tutors teach a mix of all the beauty type courses and this did concern me a bit.

Well I think my mind is made up now :) but now to find the cash  going to trawl the attic for things I can sell on ebay... I have got to raise £260 I think for the deposit.... fingerd crossed I can make the next course in Sept, but they have one in Oct too.

Thank you every one for helping me make my mind up

Aww nice bloke,
mine did this for me too, just over 3 years ago,
best pressie ever, i loved every bit of my CND training

a few more questions I forgot to ask on phone today.... Will I be able to perform normal manicures and pedicures after doing the foundation course? I dont mean the spa ones by CND as I know they have courses for them, but I mean can I perform a normal manicure on natural nails and be ok doing it?
