hi, new to S.G so here goes...
i recently bought the minx nails and think they are amazing, however, i did one client and they apparantly 'fell off' in the bath that same night.
is this possible? they were on her natural nails. iv had mine on a week now and they are still perfect, and thats after showering, bathing my son, washing up etc. and my other clients have all been happy wioth theirs. is she lying?

I think she might be.....I have done quite a few Minx and my clients don't smell so I am assuming they bath.... and wash up....and swim...ect....at the very worst 1 that wasn't properly adhered might lift away slightly but all 10 just float off.....no way.

When it comes to removing Minx you then realise the power of that adhesion...they are so sticky its unreal.

Hi ya
The 1st time I had a set on my toes I had a bath straight away and i found that my little toes fell off I managed to stick them back on and the full set lasted 4 weeks before the little toes fell off again,,,,,I have a bath nearly every night as I don't really like showers and I haven't lost any since it was just that night,,,,,I think it was because I had a bath to soon and the warmth of the bath lifted them,,,I tell clients now if they have a bath to have one after a few hours. I was told that having a hot bath won't affect the minx but from personally experience that was what I found.

i cant wear minx on my little toes, they would just 'float off'...but only because they wont stick properly in the first place as my little toe nails grow funny and are too much of an uneven surface. Other then that I've found they are very difficult to get off without doing it properly. If she has pulled them off you will probably be able to see by the quality of her nails- the nail plate might be damaged (at least that's what I've found in my experience).

Minx will NOT damage your nails whatsoever, whilst they have great adhesion...they are also easily removed without causing damage.

I had a client that had tiny uneven little toe nails, i evened it out with an L&P overlay using radical, then gave her a set of minx and they all looked consistent, fab and even for her. She was always thrilled with them.

They can IF not removed properly....I was being lazy and pulled mine off without first heating them...and my nails where damaged....this was my fault and not Minx

Sorry I just dont see how they can possibly cause damage... They just peel off! Im the same if ive had them on ...ive just took them off without heating them first and although yeah you can really feel the pull....but it didnt damage my nails..I honestly cant see how they could possibly cause any damage I think I would have to see it to believe it lol x

Well i saw it......i had stress marks all over my toe nails....and those buggers where really hard to pull off....it actually hurt....maybe i did a really good job of applying them...they had been on for 8 weeks..:) I have since removed some the right way...using heat and they came off no probs with no damage...so its definitely the heat thing.

Actually i think i did take a pic....will have a look

The same happened to me Angie, I had them on for 6 weeks before I pulled them off and got stress marks on my big toes..xx

wow im amazed especially on toes...mind you my toe nails are like sheets of steel lol

Usually due to incorrect removal .. you are supposed to heat them first and then remove like waxing not pulling up but pulling away if that makes sense.

Wrong removal can result in whitish looking patches of dehydration .. it doesn't tend to damage as such but Solar Oilo definitely needed to rehydrate.

That is exactly what i did- was lazy and pulled it off without heat, im aware too it was my fault but either way my nail was not looking good after. Perhaps im wrong and it was dehydration as geeg suggests, rather then damage, they were very dry. I put a new set on straight after so never gave them much of a look.

Thanks for that, i will keep it in mind and have a go

I'm glad you guys are noticing this, I had mine on for what seemed forever (and was very happy they stayed on that long).

But they did give me very dry patches when I pulled them off, it didn't worry me, but did make me kinda frown about the product just a little.

I didn't want to say anything, as I didn't wish to seem negative towards the product ....... I still think they are bloody amazing and give a look to the nails that no other product can achieve.

What little damage I sustained was my own fault for 3 reasons.
  1. I applied them brilliantly :)
  2. The product lived up to it's reputation
  3. I ignored manufacturers advice about removing them correctly

People who are correctly taught Minx, are also taught how to remove them, so listen, learn and advise your clients accordingly.

We have found that buffing with the 1200 side of the Koala Buffer (or similar) and a liberal dose of Solar Oil (or similar) takes care of the dry patches almost immediately. It is nothing permanent in any case.

thanks everyone, wel i did a set on my friend and purposely told her 2 have a HOT and LONG bath that night....she did,and they are all still perfect, i think the client was telling porkie pies...! they are very difficult to pull off even wen under heat, so i know its not my application. and also, is CND the only uk supplier, as they have a limited range of colours?

I actually pulled a few layers nail off my toenails with incorrect removal and they had been on for 6 weeks! (this was before attending a minx day, had no idea that you could'nt just peel them off lol) xx

Sweet Squared have loads of designs and colours have you been in to your nearest S2 stockist? (mine is the finger tips centre in edinburgh they have loads!) xx

If your local stockist does not have all the designs you want, then CND head office (sweet Squared DO .. call 08452106060 or register at Welcome - Sweet Squared and you can buy on line... but you must be a registered customer of Sweet Squared to do so.

Minx is a very hot selling item .. so there are times when certain of the most popular designs are temporarily out of stock for a short time .. hold a reasonable amount in stock and order when you are getting low to avoid being disappointed.

CND distributors hold Minx showcase days also which are great fun and really informative. We will be holding another one here at the new Manchester Academy really soon, but anyone is welcome to come along anytime, we are constantly demo-ing.
