Do you have cards made up ????....if so, put on the opening times BUT some people will still call at all hours hun.....

Drop hints like i said and if that does not work......tell them that you are busy sleeping ...good luck but i think you have to start being firm hun xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi what I dont like is when a client trys to make a booking via text, as you need to speak to them, and there you are back and fourth, "can do this time/date, does that suit" "you need a patch test first" and so on.

Don't pick up the phone after hours - simple! People will get the hint. I think most people expect an answerphone. If your waiting for your boys call then you know his number so just pick that up.

The hairdressers I work above dont have an answerphone and people call at ridiculous hours!!

Why not put your phone on silent when your sleeping??

if you don't want to get a 2nd phone just for your boyfriend's calls, why not programme his number so that it has a different ringtone then if it rings, you know its him.

I have Benny Hill for my son, stronger for my hub, then smiths for everyone else.
re: texts, open it, whizz through it and answer it the next day.

I just don't answer my phone after 7pm. If it is that urgent they can leave a message, then i'll get back to them the following day.

I have had a couple of clients that seem to think they can book me at a few days notice and that i can do their nails at a drop of a hat, so when they call me, i make them wait at least five days to fit them in. A lot of the time now, i can't fit people in for at least a week, so they now book me in advance.

You must always make clients fit in with you and not the other way around.

I have to admit, I've sometimes called businesses after hours because I know I will get voice mail and I can cross that task off my to-do list.

I don't think it's a big deal for a client to leave a message at odd hours on a 'business' voicemail. It's only wrong if they expect a response.

yes I too have rang places expecting to get the voicemail or answerphone.

yep i also have diff ringtones for fam members, i have godfather for hubby, nirvava for eldest and zcars for middle lad, and i also dont answer unknown or client numbers after 8pm,(i just let it go to answerphone) they do get the hint believe me, one who used to ring me 9.30/10pm and later always rings during lunch or breaks now instead, cos i never used to answer her

as for txts, look if its not bf , just leave it and answer in the morning, when you reply, start with sorry i didnt reply last night, i was asleep when txt came through, see if they take the hint hun

good luck chick xxxx

I don't understand why you are so angry with clients that call! If you're mobile and they know you use your personal phone for business and not making reasonable business rules, why shouldn't they?

It comes accross as unprofessional in my opinion!

If you can't afford a second phone, why not have a 'pay as you go' phone for incoming calls only. Put on that a professional voicemail message just like a salon would.

Would you give your home phone number out to people you don't know? It's not your clients fault that you need to keep your phone on because of your boyfriend. They are probably expecting a voicemail or if they text you and get an answer they'll carry on texting

I'm in the same position as you regarding my phone, BUT if someone calls or texts at a stupid hour, say after 9pm, it doesn't get answered, it goes to answerphone or the text gets read then I reply in the morning at a sensible time. As was previously said, if you reply at a silly hour then they think it's ok to do it. Just leave it till the morning, and I don't think you should apologise for leaving it either.

I am having to deal with the same problem and have equally struggled to know how best to deal with it. I have put a note on my Notice Board in my Salon asking people not to use my mobile phone out of hours. This seems to have worked. Good luck! Sarah

i have two fones - one business and one monile. i have a voicemail on my work fone with a personal message. if i dont want clients to call (ie middle of night or im out for a meal or im busy etc) i divert calls to answerphone most people leave a message or they then send a text.

Although was so tired fri night i forgot to switch it off and i had a 2.05am call lol. People can ring me anytime 7 days a week 8am - 9pm i dont mind that at all but the 2.05am one was just taking the mick xx

ps my work phone cost me £29.99 and is a pay as you go if thats any good to you xx
