Being mobile and working from home I use both my home phone and mobile and often get clients texting for appointments.
I need a rant as I get really narked at how cheeky clients can be through text and wouldn't say it over the phone or in person and have to say it is usually my younger clients.

I have a client on Friday was due infills but decided she wants a soak off and full set? All is fine but she just text saying

'7 of my nails have fallen off!!'

I don't get what she wants me to reply to this? I know what i'd like to reply :p

Like a client other day, I did a deal on a package then they asked if they brought their own tan would i do it and not charge!
sometimes I think i should text back in the way they text me cheek=cheek nice=nice.

Does anyone else experiencethis and please advice on what to text her back

I think this is the right thing to do. I'd reply to '7 of my nails have fallen off!!' with 'Oh Dear!!' and leave it at that:biggrin:

Why reply that? You have absolutely no idea what has happened to her nails.
Without seeing them you can't ascertain what the problem is.
You need to ask her to come back and see you so you can see for yourself.
It may well be nothing she has done.

Hi Angelina,

Technically you're right, but why didn't the texter add more sensible information to the unhelpful and abrupt text in the first place? Even a 'Please call me' at the end would have made things totally different. Replying with 'Oh Dear' would also give her another opportunity to make contact again.

ok i had a client this week as i am snowed in completly, i text everyone to cancel and apoligise and one text back saying i HAD to come!! bear in mind i only did her hair 3 weeks ago so it was hardly desperate, and she will also be snowed in!!!!! in fact her estate was worse than mine, i text her saying i wasn't willing to come as my car litterally was just wheel spinning but getting nowhere but she was quite welcome to come to my house if she is that desperate! (just to see what she said)
low and behold the lady text
and i quote!!!!!!!'' right whatever, i'll have to find someone to do it that does want my business, thanks'
:(
i was like wtf??
no way would she have said that over the phone or to my face,
anyway her mum i do on a tues so i went there this tues and she turned up and asked if i had time to 'slap her roots on' aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh!!!
cheeky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *&%^$£$%&*
in the end i did it (for the cash lol)
but seriously some people think we are just sat at home waiting for them to throw us a nut pfft!!!!

I don't mind the odd text like "i will be 5 mins late" or " finished work early, can i come sooner"...basically anything simple that requires no more from me than a "yes" or "no"

What i don't like is..."hi, can you do my nails"....and the worst one "I need to make an appointment can you ring me"

What i do is send 1 (and no more) text back saying...."I don't arrange appointments via text, you will have to ring me"

I learned my lesson a few years ago....when just trying to book one clients appointment used 9 separate texts...!!...what should have took 2 mins on the phone lasted all bloody day.

I totally agree there is nothing worse that text ping pong! I prefer to actually talk and say what needs to be said in minutes rather than hours!

im getting so much of this lately i have no idea why..
but im getting a whole story about what they want to know about booking via text.. or can you ring me etc..

i hate it and i text back saying if you call me il give you all the info...as i cant see why they dont call.. i cant be bothered texting back and forth ..
and mainly its the younger ones if im honest..

I would definitely not be cheeky in the reply and just text her back asking her to ring you for an appointment.

I now realise I was one of these clients from hell yesterday as I was texting martigirl trying to get a space for some colour matching with her Lily Lilo makeup......and about 6 texts over the space of the day were sent by me..:o SORRY Martigirl!!.....see you tomorrow though lol!

I get clients text me sometimes, some just to confirm an already made appointment which is fine, some asking for an appointment. I either call back to do it over the phone or do what Bagpuss does and text back asking them to call me.

I refuse to take text appointments. If a potential client can't bother to ring than I don't want them as a client. I'm not sending half a dozen text messages backwards and forwards to make an appointment. I have found that most of my text message queries are from men and usually after 9pm wanting 'a massage' at xyz dodgy motel. Delete is the only button I press on my phone.

However, if someones running late and just a quick message saying 'on my way be there in 5' or similar I'm fine with.

I don't mind regular clients texting for an appointment, but not keen on new clients doing it. Only had it happen once though, and had no cheeky texts - so far.
I did get one complaint from a client by text (her tan wasn't dark enough and she had got caught in the rain, which I had tried to fix for her at the time) and just text her back to say come and see me after work which was fine. I know I should have phoned her but I was in the middle of the school run lol.
I also hate text ping pong as I get charged for mine xx

I tell all clients they are welcome to cancel appointments via text, but they cannot make appointments via text.

A cancellation can be understood by both parties (is one way) no need for any further communication and is not negotiable, but making an appointment (is 2 way) and needs communication and negotiation.

Yep I used to get this too and mostly (or always) from my younger clients, teenagers with unlimited text packages that use text talk that I don't understand (c u tmr, gr8, lol - ok so that was one of the easier ones that I did get but WTF???!!!)

I subsequently installed a seperate landline and only use that now and it's been worth every penny!

Hi
I'm getting more clients text me now for appointments and to tell the truth I don't mind it really. I store names and numbers on my fone so I know who is texting,,,,if it's a new client I always ring them to range the appointment and the rest I text them back as and when I can do,,,,, Some clients just text to say do you doing tanning etc so I just message back,,,,If it was someone texting with a problem then I'd deffo ring them.

I have always found that with my nail clients they do from time to time lose one or two nails but that's fairly rare and when they do it's their fault but if someone text me saying I've lost 7 nails the 1st question I'd be asking is why????? I wouldn't be happy recieving that text the girl could have say more but she may not be happy with them and was just stating her point,,,,, I deffo ring and talk to her see what she has been doing as to why she has lose some many nails.

A couple of the beauty therapists I've used in the past seemed to deal mainly with texts - as a customer I found it a bit awkward/difficult trying to arranging things in this way but I suppose a lot of people do it for convenience or because they don't like talking on the phone.

i dont get any issues with my nails from clients usually, i think she was getting at as she had only 3 nails left on (most likely due to pulling them off as she asked me do you take them off or shall i pullthem off) she wouldnt need to pay for a full set removal as she had booked.
I text her back i dont understand your text she replied my false ones. i cant be a**ed to be honest i have decent clients who ring discuss any issues at a reasonable hour and dont expect the whole world from me for free. I wont be taking texts form clients as its too much hassle you cant judge the tone of voice like over ther phone to work out in what context a statment is being made

I would definitely not be cheeky in the reply and just text her back asking her to ring you for an appointment.
