OMG I'm going mad.

I've just opened the Salon (which its getting busier by the day), I'm secretary of the Golf Club, I've got 3 kids & a hubby, oh and all the paperwork for his business...and nowhere near enough hours in the day!

Things could be alot better if I got a little more help round the house, but cant get my hubby or bratty pre-pubescent 9 year old to pull the finger out!

Does anyone use a rota system at home and does it work?

I have a rota...its called me GOB !!!

Just tell em...why on earth should you do it all...is it all your mess...washing...ironing...food....Ect....NO

I think its a crying shame when grown men are not capable of looking after themselves...pathetic........you are his wife, not his mother or maid.

Sorry but I this topic gets my goat up....

try it and see....at least with less of him there would be less to clean up after....

Sorry ladies but often men only behave this way because women let them.

I would gladly sit and stare at a sink full of pots before I would ever do them because I was made to feel it was MY job.

I agree with Bagpuss 100%, Why should women do all the housework and cooking and work? Its not fair at all.
I think all couples should share the load and children too.. x

I have to say before i met my hubby ,he was briging 2 kids up,working full time ,cooking, ironing and cleaning....so he can look after all the house.......

Why not get a rota drawed up and stick it on the fridge.......1 day you cook....the next day your hubby cooks....

Take everything in turns......so its equal because that is what should be like.!!!!.....if you letyour hubby get away with it ,he will let you look after him the house the cooking..etc.xxxxxxxxxxx

I hv a list of rules for each room ...... and everyone knows whats expected of them!

And god help anyone that doesnt comply, my husband is great we are a team....

The 4 kids all have their own jobs ........

9 years old is more than capable of doing some jobs & as for the husband he needs to know how you feel.

We've just started a rota system at home lol.

Every night at 7pm, Liam spins the rato wheel and jobs are allocated for the next evening....it's working quite well so far!

I am gonna try some sort of rota system, cos at the mo, hubby is just taking the 'P'.
I do everything for him, its just ridiculous, it really gets my goat aswell, and I really only have myself to blame for the way he is!

A little bit of help would never go amiss!

Even the kids 5 & 3 tidy their own room, make their beds etc, how come cant a grown man do it?

Do you know what made me mental t'other night, he said he needed his toenails cutting, they were getting long apparently, and told me it should be my job to cut them! I told him where to go and he huffed about it all night! The pleb!

Well I can't cook in a dirty home, so if I came home to a tip, they knew I would quiet happily get on with my routine which starts with dusting and then hoovering moves on to tidy bed rooms then Bathroom and finally kitchen, so if I got home at six, that would make it about 9pm and at that point I would say well I'm of for a bath, after a full days work and then that lot I'm shattered and I'd go of to the bathroom for a long hot soak.
Dinner? nope at 9pm I'm not hungry I'm just tired, no need to tell that lot I ate before coming home:lol: Paul soon got the kids organised. of course its just us two most of the time, but when the kids do come home they drop straight back into the old routine:lol: Habit is a wonderful thing.

Pleb.......I haven't heard that word in years:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Well my 2, hubby and son will be off shortly to Saudi. My uncle who was round last night said to me "What will you do with all the extra time you will have, no cooking, washing, ironing etc". Never thought of it that way before, have to say I was quite delighted. Gym, here I come (never get time to go now), nice clean house, no one to whinge at because nothing to whinge for, hoorah, weh heh, wheres the party :). Seriously though I will miss them

Its my fav word for him indoors, cos he is one! A total pleb!

p.s hes just come home, had a shower and now he is feet up with a cold Stella! Oh the life eh! What are we having for supper? hhhmmmm!! Pasta, I said, he said, I need some meat Ive done a hard days work!! Do all hard working men need meat after a hard day at work then? lmao!

Actually feel a bit bad now, I think I made it sound worse than it is!!

My hubby isnt bad at all really, he is very good with the children and does most of the cooking. Having said that, he very rarely does any cleaning, hasnt cleaned the bathroom or changed a bed in the ten years we've been married. Don't know what he'd do if I was ever ill!!

Oh ..and why to do they always think that they must be more tired than you?????

Anyway, we are a pretty good team, I just thought maybe a rota system would encourage him to do some of the things he FORGETS to do, and maybe I could have a reward system linked to my daughters chores? She is a nightmare, and never does anything unless I nag her to death!

Maybe I'm just too soft!

Thanks for replies guys. xx

Rota's dont work, I know, I have tried.

Bribary is good for 9 year olds, say a new computer game or a day out, the cinema, if they do such and such every day for two weeks, etc, and as they get older cold hard cash.

With hubs, dont do his ironing - I did'nt do my hubs ironing when I worked at all EVER, in fact I only started doing it when my daughter went to school at age five.

Hope you get yourself sorted.

:)

My husband is fantastic !!

Love him lots xxx

After reading this lot i am sooooooooo blessed lol

I would love a rota system but realistically know it wouldn't work, for a start haven't got the time to draw one up. I believe men are just bone idle, yes he works a full time job but that's it. I have 5 part time jobs, 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fishtanks and a horse. I do everything around the house apart from empty the bins. I do all the childcare, remembering birthdays etc even for his family.

What does he do oh yes I know, plays a lot of computer games!!

Well stand up for yourself woman - I know I would - dont do any of his stuff - washing or ironing, dont cook any of his fave food just what you and the kids like - put a ban on all bedroom playtime. Organise nights out with your mates (specially when his team is playing), so he has to get kids tea, put them to bed etc.

I have done all these things and I can tell you it works. My hubs washes up and cleans the kitchen after dinner every night now, cleans the family bathroom and hovers the stairs. He does not dare complain ever about what I do, and I can tell you I dont do half what you do. He leaves the house at 8 in the morning and does not get back till 7 at night but its his house and family too not just mine, as I told him early on in our relationship - I AM NOT YOUR MOTHER.

Put your foot down, HARD

PS Cut the plug of his computer!!!!

Yep, I agree, I should put my foot down, I definitely do way too much, but I was raised by my mother to have a very strong work ethic and just can't seem to do any less. If I have more than a few minutes to myself then I feel duty bound to fill it with something else.

I don't really want to do any less I guess I just expect everyone else to work as hard as me - not very reasonable of me I know! Wouldn't mind handing over cleaning the bathrooms to someone else though!!

Love the computer suggestion though, think I might arrange something terminal for it soon!!!
