Oh these have made me chuckle so much!
I have a woman who comes to me for a colour - has been doing since I was in college - but only comes like once a year.
She is a natural base 5.
Every SINGLE time she wants her colour done she will come and see me a few days before for skin test and to nosy through colour charts and conversation goes like this.
"I think I want blonde, can we do blonde?"
"What kind of blonde?"
"I dunno ... like a strawberry blonde. Red blonde. Actually, can we do red?"
"We can do red. Why don't you have a look at the shade chart. I recommend x, y and z for your skin tone."
"Ohhh I like this one. But not exactly like this. A bit darker"
---I then point to the darker version.
"No. No I don't like that. It's too purple."
"It is the darker version of the one you said..."
"Yeah but I meant darker like ... brighter. Not darker"
"....Right...."
"Like this one..."
"....That's brown."
"Yeah brown. I'll have it a nice brown."
and we always, ALWAYS end up putting on the same shade of brown (although it has been with different brands through the places. It's a 4BP in goldwell)
She always loves it. Always then spends at least five minutes afterward talking about how fab it looks, how glossy etc. and saying ohhh I must come more often. Pays (always gives a generous tip bless her) and then comes back around a year later.
I love her, she's fab - but dear god. Why do we still play this game?
