Just heard on the radio that this book is currently outselling the Bible!!!!! Reported to be the biggest selling book of the year lol
OMG!!! These books are now affecting my dreams. I had an extremely intimate interlude in the fashion of Christian and Ana last night.....with Gary Barlow. :o:o:o Im very upset that I'm now awake. I want to go back to bed to dream it again and again and again.
Gutted everywhere has sold out, asda/tesco/all the book shops! Spent an hour trekking round town today & amazon/ebay delivery won't get here in time for my holiday!! booooo
I'm going to see if anyone is reading it whilst im lounging on the beach, & as soon as they put it down to put there sun cream on I'm going to swipe it LOL
so when i end up in a Turkish prison for book theft, I'll be blaming this thread lol! xx
Oh my goodness ive just finished the first one and i feel bereft, going to have to drive to asda when hubby gets home to get second one. Funnily enough he has messaged me asking if now ive finished the book his bedtime antics have finished too hahah
I am only 38% of the way through the first book so pardon me if I don't quite get it yet! We seem to have a 12 page thread here that says nothing but..read these books...!
No one seems to have any views on the subject matter or wants to discuss why this has proved so popular.
The word saucy seems to crop up a lot when talking about it...but really it is erotica and these kind of books have been around for ...well, forever!
Maybe my views will change once I read more, but Mr Grey is not for me...I am a romantic, and I want the hearts and flowers and a Mr Sensitive that can also be the aforementioned saucy. Just as well as that is who I have been married to all these years lol!
I know these books are all about fantasy, but doesn't it worry you that so many women are turned on by the thought of being submissive ? Or am I just an old Womens Libber still yearning for equal pay and equal rights for women.
doesn't this kind of book say more about male fantasy than female?
Isn't this the kind of discussion this book should be kicking off?

I don't want to give anything away so all I'll say is just read all 3 books and yes, then I think perhaps your view might change.
The point of my thread wasn't to necessarily start an in depth discussion about it like perhaps you might do at a book club, it has just sparked interest in those of us who have read them and enjoyed them (and has spurred others to get them and read them also) and so I shared my initial thoughts and many other thoughts since Many have joined in with their opinion and we have discussed who might play the characters in the film. As for further, in depth discussion on it, it would spoil it for those who haven't read the trilogy.
I don't think that we have no views, the reason i personally haven't discussed the books content is because it spoils it for the reader, each of us are at different parts of the trilogy. If someone were to post on here about what happens in the second or third book i would be really disappointed.
As you say you are only 38% through the first book and i don't think you will get the real story until much later, although it is a 'saucy' book there is also a pretty good psychological undercurrent to it.
It has been argued that it is not a very well written book but for some gripping sauciness i think it does its job pretty well
Id love to hear what you think when you get to the end
