im looking to start buying some coloured gels.i dont have that many clients so i have no call for it but i find that most clients just dont know whats out there and what there options are so i thought this might be a good way for me to stand out as i would be ofering something different.i know we always get people on here wanting to know the cheapest option but as i dont have many clients and im not sure if this will work i obviously didnt want to go for the most expensive.
i would like to buy a starter kit that includes something like the primary colours if that exsists rather than just buying individual ones as they can work out expensive and i just want something to start me off.
im open to any suggestions and brand.i currently use nsi and akzentz gels which i know they do colour gels but i dont think they do a kit you have to buy them seperately and they are fairly expensive although i have one akzentz one and it is good quality.
thanks for any info.xx

not a kit i know, but have you looked at lechat nobility soak off gels, they are very good value and all colours are intermixable to form further shades.

Akzentz options are a good gel...its soak off and i think they do a kit...Also Light Elegance is worth looking into and thats a buff off gel.

With regards to colours I would make sure I have the main ones that people would generally go for which is a red, a pink, a dark colour and of course your french. Then you can work off the various shades and tones of those and throw in a couple of sparkle gels and diamond/ice shades as well. It's good to have a colour chart also of all the available colours so the clients can see that there are other options available which you can perhaps order at a later date?

HTH xxx :)

I used to be a demonstrator for a coloured gel system and I agree its not a kit you need just the basics. You need a sparkly gel, a pink, a dark colour and something funky yet wearable like blue or orange and silver. what do your clients go for? and which coloured gel styles will you be doing - funky french? gel nail art or block colour/permanent polish?

I have lots of Young glitters that I mix into gel and about 8 out of 64 coloured gels that I use frequently. Like anything its upto you if you are launching it then yes invest if your adding a string to your bow then just get a couple.

the gels i use are both buff off so which do you think i would be better off with soak or buff off?
thanks for all the replies.that young nails kit sounds fab can someone let me know how much it is?
and a great idea about just getting the basics.thanks everyone.x

IBD do some really nice gel kits and you can also mix all the colours together to make diffrent one and they are not too badly priced! They also do a soak off kit and good soak off colour range:)

We have colour gels - loads of them!!
buff off and soak off

You can mix colours together to make custom colours. I don't think everyone realises you can do that with colour gels.
We have at least 100 custom colours mixed up from about 30 different colours in our salon.

There are some custom colour gel ideas on the website

CND also do a basic colour kit in the Brisa Gels collection that you can use to mix your own colours and make hundreds more; it is very reasonably priced and available from 08452106060.

They also do a basic kit of glitter gels that you can use to add.
