I've been spraying a few weeks now and i've noticed where my pot joins the gun(the pot u put tan in to attach to the gun, lol)
Its leaking round the lip at first it was a little bit but today when i was spraying about 10 massive blobs came out on my clients WHITE LINO!

I'm sorry but imagine if it was a carpet! yeh i know insurance should cover that but its not the point and if the word spreads it effects your business.

i'm going to take a plastic sheet for myself to stand on so if it drips it'll go on there just until i get a reply from the company.

There's no damage to the lip underneath but i'm finding it a task to get the solution pot screwed onto the gun..my stepmum has the same machine and has the same problem. ..but it was screwed on properly so i can't see what the problem is.

I have a HVLP 5008 by the way!!

I think i've done around 7/8 tans with it and i've cleaned the gun once but not the needle yet as i couldn't get the nut off, lol.

Hi I have this same machine and have never had this problem with mine, if the cup is screwed on correctly then all I can think of is maybe a damaged seal? sorry I couldnt be of further help just that this is most unusual x

I would contact the company where you bought the gun from, as you will get the correct info from them and they could walk you through some solutions while your on the phone hopefully.

I would say to ALWAYS put a clear plastic sheet down and underneath the tent too if you are going to other people's homes.:)

It sounds like youve either overtightened the cup and crushed the seal or the cup screw head has somehow warped.

Turn the seal upside down and try with another of the two spare cups you would have got with your machine.

HTH

Thanks for your replies.

I've tried it with all 4 cups i have..
I've contact them but they havn't replied to my last email yet.

I don't think i can have over tightened either.

Does anyone else have the same machine and have to have a few attempts at screwing the cup on?? i know me and my stepmum do.

the 5008? cant be overtightened if its leaking its not tight enough give it a good twist and you will be ok

I have..lol im not stoopid haha.

I've tried doing screwing it on normally and slightly tighter and slightly looser.

well its not a gasket like on the t200 its a disc, that the cup screws into and seals,we have not had any leaky probs with the 5008 the thread and cup is more heavy duty you can really screw the cup up tight as its not as flimsy as the one on the t200 if yours is tight and still leaking on all 4cups the housing must either be warped or faulty, did nt you get yours from suntana ? if so contact them for an exchange

I've been using the 5008 for a few months now with no problems. You're probably best not doing anymore until you get it sorted as any insurance you have won't cover you until you've completed your own training. I suppose it's lucky you're only spraying family at the moment as I can imagine a paying client would be less than impressed with spray tan solution leaking on their flooring. I have always, so far, sprayed in the kitchen and use a large black towel on the floor in front of the tent....just for that extra bit of security really.
Hope you get it sorted.

The housing?
Just strange, my stepmum got hers about 6 months ago i think..and hers is same.

just bumping for some more replies.x

Hi, how much solution are you putting in your cup? Although i dont have the same machine, I do find that if i havent got a good 1 1/2 - 2 inches between my solution level and the seal i get a few dribbles, no matter how tight i screw the cup on. HTH xx

Sometime's i put over 100ml in and others i put a nearly the whole 250ml bottle in.

My supplier says i can get 5 tans out of 250ml bottle..thats 50ml each another trainer has said 100ml i'm using like 130ml!

I would call your trainer directly (if its the same company where you got your machine) Its difficult to explain how tight/loose something has to be on here. And if the gun is faulty you will have to arrange for repair anyway x

It's still in warranty as i only got it at xmas, i would refuse to pay for it to be fixed if it wasn't under warranty anyway i'm guessing its a fault with how its been made or somethin as i don't seem to be doing anything wrong but we will see ifi ever get a reply, lol

100ml per spray
You should be using anything between 25-50ml per spray. Try and aim for 40ml. I can't believe a trainer said 100ml per spray! That's only 10 sprays per litre bottle. You will use more when you first start as you tend to try and get the guide colour as dark as possible. You don't need too. As long as you have sprayed the area then it's covered. Try turning your gun down a bit.

Thats what i mean though maybe you should actually call them, by phone. Because they wont be able to understand or explain what to do very clearly through email. I agree that 100ml per tan is crazy!

you should only be using no more than 50ml for a full body and putting no more than 100ml in the cup if your using any more your wasting solution and losing money :(:( a litre of our solution averages aound 23 tans depending on body size have, your gun cant be set right if your using 100ml + per person, either that or your technique is wrong and your overlapping it is better to be trained properly than just having a go,
you would currently lose around 12 tans from 1 litre solution wastage thats £175 quid lost profit on 1 litre :eek:
less is best hth

when you tighten the cup the numbers ie 250ml should be at 90 degrees to the nozzle it does sound like your over filling the cup as there is no way solution should be that high to drip over the rim unless your tilting it when spraying the gun should be levelish :) and never tilted to alow the solution to run forward onto the seal/housing hope this makes sense
i am 99% sure your guns ok as i have never known one fail if used correctly hth

I currently use about 130ml on a full body but i've never over filled it apart from one time i put about 200ml in.

I don't tilt the gun anymore as i thought that could be the problem.

It'd help if they'd reply like, lol. i will ring t'moro as have more tans booked!
