I've just sneezed and really really hurt my lower back.
It hurts when I move about but not all the time, it depends what angle I'm at.
I can sit and it doesn't hurt, but just been to the loo and I was "oohing" and "ahhing" due to the pain.

Just had 2 ibuprofen and wondered if their was anything else I could be doing?

not used to being in pain or things like this happening so not sure what to do for the best.

Heais often a good one. And a hot bath. If you haven't got any heated pads, try leaning on a hot water bottle. It won't cure it, but it should ease the pain.

*I've also found presents and treats from doting hubbys do wonders for perkin you up :wink2:

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Try some very very gentle stretching excercises, something that will just stretch your back musles a little. Do this a few times a day, maybe 3. Don't rest your back, its the worst thing, it will seize up. Take some paracetamols as well as the ibruprofen for pain. The ibuprofen will take down the inflammation. Its ok to take the two tablets up to 4 times a day at the same time, but just ring your pharmacist to make sure - they might be able to give you further advice. Try looking on the internet for back pain management and suitable excercises.

I suffer from athritic lower back pain and do the above all the time. If its no better by mid week I would contact your doctor.

Hugs for you   I hope your feeling better soon!

ps heat is a definate yes, bath or have shower pulsating onto where the pain is - have it as hot as you can stand it. gentle massage will help as well, helps prevent muscles spasming.

would you prescribe a glass or three of sauvigon blanc also?

oooooh, I forget that I have it and am walking around like a wincing Hyacinth Bouquet!

Hub is in kitchen whizzing up a fish risotto to accompany the wine, and a hot water bottle sounds fab.

I will def try some gentle stretching, here goes 1,2, 3 reach for the ........corkscrew, 1,2,3 screwtop don't need corkscrew return it to cutlery draw, 1,2,3 dog scratching at door......!

Sorry, I am taking this seriously, just worried that its going to affect work next week as I'm pretty fully booked all week.

Sounds like some great exercise!

hey at least you have still got your sense of humour about it, no point being misreable :) Oh I reckon a nice bottle of wine will do wonders, it numbs the senses you know

SNAP!!! This is exactly what my wonderful hubby is doing right now.

I am sure that and the vino help sooth your sore back. Wish you better soon xx:hug:

Ive always been told ice packs not heat is better in the first instance because heat will inflame the area even more so putting a cold pack of peas over area over a towel for about 10 mins is best....but im no expert its just what i was told by an osteopath many moons ago and what i do occasionally now if i get a twinge.

I'd say you actually hurt your back ages ago... the back is a weird thing 'cause it can kinda heal itself by adjusting itself so you don't feel pain.... you can go along for ages with no problem and then one day.... atishooooo!!! you'll sneeze and ooouuucchhhhhh!!!! the pain is terrible!!

I would go to a Chiropractor and have it re adjusted but would keep an ice pack on it as someone suggested here, as more than likely it will be inflammed and you need to reduce the inflamation.

I'm no expert and this is only my opinion, but I've had the very same problem with my back and had it sorted in a few visits to my lovely Aussie Chiropractor

Hope you feel better soon.... nothing worse than backpain:hug:

Chiropractors are excellent, just watch out when they crack your neck! Scared the hell out of me but felt oooh so good, my back felt 10 times better too:hug:

Pmsl :lol::lol:

Not much else to add but here's a gentle

I got back about an hour ago from doing two pamper parties today - 1 this afternoon for 12x 6 year olds & this evening 6x grownups (with a colleague - I'm not that daft, lol) . My back is absolutely killing me & I'm on the red in the hopes of numbing the pain, lol. Hope you're better soon x

where abouts is the pain?

if its a sciatica prob you really need to get under your piriform muscle to release the sciatic nerve - but you cant do that on ya own - you need someone to do it for ya

the good news is by back doesn't seem to be giving me any sharp pains, its just a dull ache now.

the bad news is, Master Chick got invited for a sleepover whilst we were eating tea, so we thought it a brilliant wine-induced idea for me to accompany hub to the pub (just for one as I had grapes to harvest later on fb).

because I turned up some of the men rang their wives to come out so I felt obliged to stay out longer than for just the one! to cut a long and hazy story short, I am EXTREMELY HUNGOVER and am typing with one eye shut as in so much pain. Have spent the entire day in bed and am still ill.

think that I will be Ok for work next week but will keep an eye on the back and see if it gets worse, their is a chiropractor works round the corner from me.

thank you everyone and please form an orderly queue to shake your head at me in disgust and tut!

I can sympathise with you, suffering with my back lately too, and I always seem to get twinges when I know there is a party booked in or something!

I dont know what caused mine but I think it was walking the dogs on a walking belt, they are soooo strong and I did get jarred a few times. Mine doesn't hurt all the time either but when it does it is a dull ache and like you say when you bend or twist wrong it gives me a big spasm like an electric shock going through my nerves or something - really not nice

I am scared to go to a chiropractor incase they crack it wrong or something and it spasms again   I would like to get it sorted though as it stops me doing basic things like putting on socks etc when its really bad. I dont know if its a trapped nerve or what but i'd have thought that would hurt the whole time and i'd be going through the roof with it?

Hope you get better soon

Oh Ann, you didn't let your grapes go to waste did you?

If it goes on too long I would go to the doctors. A couple of months ago I thought I had a bad back as it hurt after I sneezed so assumed it was just that. I carried on as I could not just stop with children to look after and work etc, but I ended up getting worse and worse and felt really ill in the end and could hardly move, sit or do anything. It turned out that I had a kidney infection - it felt like really bad lower back pain which spread to the side and in the end its taken two months to recover because I ignored it, so don't struggle on if it keeps on hurting. xxx

sorry youre feeling so ill, big hugs to you

hope you're feeling better soon, we've all been there! did you have good night btw?

Make sure you keep taking the ibuprofen regularly, so it keeps the inflamation down. And maybe go lighter on the wine? xx
