Can I just do a quick survey on how long your l&p brush lasts you? I seem to be going through a brush a month, which seems a bit excessive to me. Does anyone else go through l&p brushes at this rate?

I use the master series pro styler (CND). I pull stray hairs out of it when they appear, sometimes if I get product in my brush I take a couple of hairs out when removing the product, and eventually this leads to a brush that doesnt deliver precise results.

Should my brush be lasting longer?

i use a master pro-styler from creative - i have had it since july last year and its still as good as the day i had it. But when i used others i got through at least one every three months.

hth

i am using the same brush i trained with back in jan-july 2006

but then i don't do lots of nail enhancements

i usually change mine every 3-6 months or so just so i know that it wont be contaminated and i just like to use a fresh new one on a regular basis.i do still clean it though after every use.

It all depends on how busy my brush has been, i am using a pro styler at the mo and i have had it for about 5 months hth,
don't pull stray hairs out hun, cut them out as low as you can get or you will damage the brush,
when you get product stuck in the brush leave it to soak overnight in your monomer and it should just wipe out hth

I have gone through loads of brushes i always seem to get product stuck in it .I had been pulling it ruining my brush i will try soaking in monomer in futer.
Thanks loubylou

Have had my wonderful Ezflow 508 for about 2 years and it is as beautiful as the day I got it. I love it too much to treat it badly lol

Just put some monomer in your dappen dish and some bluetack on the wall, stick your brush handle to the bluetack and let it sit in the monomer but don't let your brush touch the bottom of the dappen dish or it will go out of shape, i also cover my dappen dish with foil to reduce the smell hth

I use the EzFlow 508 every day of the week (except Sunday) and I get about 4 months out of it before it starts to pee me off and misbehave, then I know I need a new one!

HI,
I have Kolinsky no 8, got it with trainiing at NSI, bought a 2nd one 3 months later for my exams, and bought another suposed to be kolinsky no 8 off ebay about 8 months ago, it is good, but it is larger, I have all 3 on my desk, all are as new, I use the ebay brush for glitters and alernate between the others, I like to have them all so if a get distracted and L& P sets on the brush I have another ready to go. I use NSI brush cleaner when I get one gunked up a bit, Monomer takes too long for me. So my 1st brush is 14 months old, but I do treat them as spoiled babies, and would NEVER lend anyone my brushes. But I only do nails 3 days a week. Plus I have another new one in my stock cupboard at home, just in case !!! Hope this helps lol x

It depends on the brush for me. My EZ Flow 508 and OPI Artist Brushes are like new even under constant use. The same goes for my CND Ultra Sculptor. My 2 Prostylers, on the other hand, look like they need to be put out to pasture. Inevitably, I gunk those two up with product. We just can't seem to make nice with each other on a regular basis.

I have just had the put my pro styler I trained with last march in the bin. I think it's done really well as I have used it loads. Got 3 other brushes and another on the way!!!
I am very careful with cleaning them...

I've been using my CND Ultra Sculptor for about a year now, it's still as good as new...

My cnd pro-styler from my foundation course lasted me about 18months - I use it for glitters now.
My 2nd one is about 6months old now and about to retire, it's not very well - need to give it a shampoo & condition i think. It justs seems to have it's own way!
I have an EzFlow 508 which I find a bit big for me, and it's more pointed than my pro stylers so I'm not getting on too well with it.
I still have a kolinsky No8 from NSI in my drawer for emdergencies, but it seems a bit thin now!

I'm going to treat myself to a new brush head and treat it with tlc, see if I can get this one to last! I think my problem is this:
Do you remember the first day of your foundation course?? Everyone has a brush full of product, and the educator has the enviable task of teasing the acrylic out of everyones brush! On my first day, I noticed that our educator was soaking the brush in monomer, pressing the brush on a pad to fan out the bristles, then teasing the product out by lightly scraping the brush hairs with a cuticle pushie. Now, I've never actually been told to do that, but having seen it done, I've got into the habit. I dont need to do it every time, but when I do, it enevitably takes a couple of bristles out with it, which obviously shortens the life of your brush.

On hindsight, this probably isnt a recommended practice, I imagine its used in extreme circumstances, such as first day students with more product in their brush than is on their clients fingers!

I'm going to be nice to my next brush, see how long it lasts :green:

When you start on a new brush it is importent to get all the transport-product there is stuck in the brush out, when that is out you need to soak your brush in the liquid so it will be ready to work with.

I have had my Young Nails Artistic Sculpture brush for around 2 years now and its still in perfect condition, I brought my CND pro-styler about a year ago and that is also in fab condition. I have to say though that I am so fanatical about my brushes, noone can touch them, I clean them religiously and I NEVER let anyone else use them. I know I really should get new ones but these are shaped exactly to the way I like them and any time I have used another brush it never seems to give the same ease of use (if you know what I mean).

me too ive had mine 2 years and its still ok

If your brush is getting goopy, you are working either too WET or too DRY with your product. Usually too wet. And your brush will not last if you are not storing it properly as well. ;)

hi i use a ezflow 508 i had my first one for about 2 years but lost it when i moved, could not find it any where but it was still perfect, so i got a new one and i have had it for a year now and it is still ok, got another one last week when i done another course but cant get on with it but its the same brush:eek: so ill just have to use it a few times to get used to it
