I have had 5000 business cards delivered and they have been sitting here for a week :irked:
I really do need to get them out but to be honest I have lost all enthusiam in door to door advertising. It seemed a good idea at the time of getting them printed :)

I have done a few drops before and got nothing back from it.
Do you all think it's a waste of time?
I have my boy off from school who really wants to help me (bless him)
I am just hoping for it to rain  ha ha

Some people get a good response from leaflets and some don't.
I really think you need to deliver to the same area 2 or 3 times to get a good response.
The first time they usually have a quick look at the leaflet and then bin it. The 2nd time you deliver it jogs their memory and they may put it to one side. By the 3rd time they will remember you and have your company name in their memory for a good time, so if they do need a treatment in the future they will remember yours!
You can get companies to deliver for you. They usually charge about £25 which is well worth it in my opinion!
Good luck!

I hate the thought of doing my leaflets, but once your out there its never as bad as you think, I am really pleased with response I have had so far. Im in Scotland and its raining now, but I'm going to go and do an hour before picking up the kids :). Go for it!

I know how you feel.... I wouldn't fancy the idea of getting out to deliver all of those :irked:

I find this type of advertising is not usually very successful and most people just throw them away. I'm sure you'd probably do the same yourself.

Why not ask some local shops or Hair Salons to take a bunch of them for you and keep them on their reception desks where their customers would be likely to take one and pop it into their purse. You could offer the shop owner a free treatment and that way she'd be able to reccommend your work.

You've had 5000 of them printed and if you just got one client I'm sure they'd pay for themselves.

Good luck .. and remember the sooner you get them out there, the better you'll feel

Depends on where you drop them.
And what your goals are.

Whether you are in a real hurry to drop those 5000 business cards or whether are you prepared to dole them out strategically.

:D

I know what you mean ..its daunting ! Do your cards say enough about you or would you be better off dropping your leaflet off ( more expensive I know but if your making all that effort then it may be worth it ) . Ive persuaded my local pub to put some of my brochures in the ladies loo ..I supplied a holder and word is slowly getting around but it takes time . I think marketing is one of the hardest things we have to do in this industry but its got to be done ! Good luck and think of the calories youll burn off !

Thank you Angelina. This makes perfect sense! I think I have quite an easy business name to remember, so this should work.
I will look into the companies that deliver them I think that's a good idea!

Do you get a free news paper? we do and it's not expensive to get them to include your leaflet in with it.

Hey hun. Yes I have handed out quite a few to hairdressers. I give them a free tan for evey 5 clients they get me...works really well. I do like the idea of putting them in peoples houses as you can choose where you want your clients to be. If there's no parking then I will leave that road or if someone has 100 steps lol. Just wish it blooming worked.
Absolutely right....there's no point in leaving them in the box! xxx

I am kind of in a hurry - I have only just gone back to being mobile as I have just left my salon job. I'm in a hurry because this is the right time to being putting them out I think. My spray tanning side has gone mad because of the bit of sun we are having. Just hoping to get out there first before people find someone else xxx

We don't hun but i'm sure other places do. I should give them a call. Good idea! Thank you.
We have a little book called cr5 business directory which lists everything from beauty therapists to plumbers. There a 6 month wait though. Hopefully that will work well.

Do you have any of these kiddies ball pit places where all the mums n kids hang out ,in your area? Weve got a few and I know of one of them you can leave a wad of leaflets free on the side for advertising :),saves a bit of walking .

Do your leaflet drop and hopefully you'll get a couple of clients for Easter. I know it is a real drag but ...

Also, in future for door-to-door marketing I would just pop a business card through the letterbox. It is quicker and more likely that the client will keep it. If they want prices, they will call you or look at your website.

Good luck! xx:)

I did 250 :) and beat the rain lol
Yes this was my theory. I have always done flyers so thought why not do business cards instead as they are easier to keep and if people are anything like me then their purses are full of business cards.
I got 5000 for £40 so even if I get 2 spray tans...it's paid for xxx

Fingers crossed for you! Keep pounding those pathways! xx:hug:

Do you have a local shopping centre near you?
I put out 500 flyers a while back and only got a few calls.
But when I went to my local shopping centre and asked if it would be ok for them to put some of my business cards in there staff room I got a far better response.
My phone rang before I had even left the centre xx

Yes there is a few. What did you do, hand them out to people walking through? Who would I need to ask for permission?
Staff room idea is great. Love it! x

I just went into the shops and asked one of the sales assistants if they would mind putting some of my business cards in there staff room as I lived local and worked from home.
Everyone was really nice and said they would either put it on the notice board or leave them in the staff room for the other staff to see.
I got a few double bookings from this as the young ones didn't want to come by themselves.:green: x
