Lifting, lifting, lifting...

Thats all I get:cry: I follow prep steps very carefully twice over and I still get lifting within 2 days.

I guess Im gonna really work on my pressing and pushing next time and hope for the best.

Also I noticed most people on here use CND, I use NSI because the beauty supply here doesnt carry CND. Is one better than the other?

Hun we all have that feeling but hang on in there . I use cnd L+P and have loved the produce but recently i was sent a trial pack from nsi and i was impressed with it . I wouls say try the cnd and see for yourself which you prefer as everyone is different and untill you try it you wont know if you like it, as for the lifting have you check that your not anywere near the cuticle as this will make lifting ? If you think you are doing everthing right then it could be the clients nails as some people can have enhancements, could be medication they are on it could be a number of things. If it just on one client it could be one of the things i suggested if it is on more than one it could be the applcation of product. I wish i lived nearer i would gladly have a look for you hun sorry if i have gone on a bit lol. xx

Just a thought, are you making your product thin enough at zone 3? I would try to sort out the lifting with the product you are using before trying another.

If you're getting lifting at the sidewalls, make sure you're getting the product really flush and pay extra attention to your finish filing. I don't use NSI, myself, but it has a good reputation and so I doubt that a change of product will solve it.

We have all suffered from lifting problems and I understand how you feel, but don't give up. Work through everything step by step. If you truly believe it isn't your prep, then look at your application again and don't discount what the client can do once they've left your table. We can't be responsible for that and sometimes fall into the trap of blaming ourselves for every last little thing that happens to them. Stick with it!

Hey, don't let it get you too disheartened, alot of good suggestions have been made to try and find out whats causing it. CND has to be ordered direct from them as far as i know, though i don't use it!
why not post some pictures in your album of the nails and we may be able to give even better advice if we can see them

I've used NSI Attraction for the last couple of years but I still use my cnd scrub fresh:lol:
So here goes
1 remove cuticle
2 remove shine
3 scrub over entire nail for a good 5 seconds with scrub fresh
4 apply nail pure
5 apply pre blended or no blend tip
6 apply nail bond to nail only
7 apply acrylic, style depending on what I'm doing:lol:
8 shape
9 file
10 polish
from step three onwards I make sure I allow products to dry properly and step 7 it is critical to make sure that the acrylic is flush (thin) at all the points where it comes near the skin and does not come into contact with the skin.
Don't give up on the product hun you will get there:hug:

Thanks, I think I really just need to hear that other people have been in my shoes.

I think it has to do with application around the cuticle, its something im having a lot of trouble mastering. My gfs dont even want to let me do their nails because they lift so fast. I just dont know how Im going to get practice...

:irked:

I know its not the same as practising on people, but practise on cheap tips instead. Draw a line where the cuticle and nail walls would be on the tip and that might help with your product control. Also other geeks have recommended rolling up a half sheet of blue tac into a tube (as in a finger shape) and then pressing tips into the blu tac. Doing this creates a cuticle, nail wall effect in the blu tac. Also if you pull the tip to make the nail appear to have grown it leaves an infill area. hth's

blue tac?? im not following?

blue tac?? im not following?

I'm going to take a guess and ask if you know what blue tac is? You could also use play-dough (but blue tac is sticky). Wedge a nail tip into the blue tac or play-dough and it will sit like a real nail with a cuticle edge around it. You can practice applying your product, keeping away from the 'cuticle' edge.

As for feeling like you want to give up... hang in there. You're only new & lifting is bound to happen. I've been doing this for four years (still relatively new) & I still have certain clients who get lifting. It happens. But as we get better we get less and less lifting.
If you're friends won't let you practice on them practice on your left hand (assuming you're right handed) or your toes.

Don't give up. You will get there :green:

Hey hun, please dont give up, i used to get lifting alot, we have all suffered it but its one of those things that you have to work through, like many have said, pay attention to your side walls and zone 3, make sure you push the product ito these places so that it adheres properly, dont let the product touch the skin in any way as that causes lifting too. May i ask, do you use primer? how about a nail dehydrater aswell? I only ask as when i started using nsi i had some lifting with it but when i started using cnd i was introduced to scrubfresh which amoung other things dehydrates the nail, its just a thought. :hug:xxx

blue tac?? im not following?

This is Blutack........

Welcome to Blu Tack.com

I wouldn't use Playdoh as suggested myself purely because its very soft and so filing would be a nightmare but Blutack is much harder and stays finger shaped quite well. An alternative might be Plasticine if its available over there. I hated playing with that as a child but have found it quite useful for sticking tips to things when I didn't have Bluetac in Oslo, never occurred to me to roll it into a finger shape and use it that way!

Is it possible to book some time with your tutor?

Thats a great tip!

Honey please don't give up, I was in your shoes, and I very nearly did give up, in fact, I did for a little while! Everything kept lifting, no matter what I did, but after speaking to my educator, and with practise, practise, and more practise, I eventually got it! I still get occasional lifting at the side walls but I learn & improve with every set I do.

Can you get a nail trainer over there? CND and Essential Nails both sell them but I bought mine 2nd hand off ebay, it's the best thing I ever bought! You can practise your heart out, you just pop off the finished nails and pop in a new set to work on, and it never complains:green:

I now use CND Brisa for gels but recently got the NSI trial kit, and it really did perform well, so I wouldn't give up on NSI yet!

Thanks soo much for all the advice:)

Really good ideas! Im gonna go get some Canadian equivalant to blu tack tomorrow and practice away...lol. I havent even touched my nail stuff in a few days i just needed a break, i was getting very frustrated:irked:

So should I just use some cheap tips?? I guess that makes sense.

About seeing my tutor we are supposed to be having a troubleshooting class with the whole group. Ive been waiting impatiently for month. That school is just a mess...

Nail trainer?? Is that some sort of false hand?? I have the false fingers thats about it

I'd try out the blu tac idea before a nail trainer as they are really expensive about $200 then you have to keep buying nail trainer tips about $25-30 per pack of 100. Obviously I'm having an educated guess on cost cos of difference in currency.

The best part about practising on tips in blu tac is that you dont have to spend time prepping the nail trainer tip, applying tips, blending tips. You can just go straight onto practising your l+p application.

You can find info on nail trainer here The Nail Trainer

I am so Glad to have found this thread, i am in the exact same boat myself, i am using avolve at the moment and am having some trouble too, :confused:sometimes i think the harder i try the worse it gets.

i live on Kangaroo Island in south australia and training is less than avaliable to me here, i also feel better knowing that someone else is in having the same trouble as me, because i also was getting close to wanting to give up.

Not sure about this suggestion, even though I am trained with CND and have a masters and all...

Anyhow, I have not tried or trained with NSI but have heard it is an excellent product. Why not try to do some training at home with the NSI and also other products, and see how you go.

Just make sure your product placement is secure, not too wet / dry. Also, just out of curiosity, are you using all NSI products? Or bits and pieces?

Or just keep perusing over your notes. Good Luck honey. We all have difficult times, just keep your chin up......

Cheers

keep going You know what your problems is so now just keep a beady eye on prep, ratio and application. Go back over your notes, invest in a dvd and practice, practice, practice. I def believe in the nail trainer or the blue tac finger you can never practice too much but as Geeg says 'practice does not make perfect, PERFECT practice makes perfect!
Get onto your educator and tell them to get a move on!

I heard from the girl I did on saturday and NO LIFTING!!! I know its only 5 days but its an improvment:) Really happy :green:

Im just getting hope from work and Im probably going to practice a bit. Im pretty sure it has everything to do with my application in zone 3, which I reallly focused on making better saturday and clearly it worked. I find it tricky to file in zone 3 as well.

I know a few ppl had asked if I use a dehydrater and primer. The answer is yes. Always. I use NSI's nail pure to cleanse and dehydrate followed by an acid free primer.

Everything I use is NSI. A few of my coloured powders arent NSI but thats about it.

Catrat- Dont give up! I know it gets frustrating but just learn from your mistakes and listen to advice on here. A lot of people on here are very knowledgable. This website has helped me SO much
