How do you do your pink and white L+P on your wrong hand?

I'm proficient in doing my own nails in P+W style with gel, but L+P is another story completely

I was thinking about sizing up the tips then applying the white powder onto the tip before applying it!
Do any of you do your 'wrong hand' this way?

I've never mixed gel and L+P within one set of nails apart from a finishing top gloss.
Is it possible to do the white with gel, remove inhibition layer, slight buff, then apply the L+P to zones 2 and 3 as per normal with no service breakdown?

I'd like to do these nails tomorrow and would love any feedback you can give.

Thanks in advance geeks

I did mine last night, the black and gold ones you saw,
I was dreading it lol, it was all fun doing the left hand, but then came the scary 'wrong' hand... and black/glitter of all things to do lol....

I do mine at the kitchen table I got more arm room, when Applying the free edge, I tend to use my whole forearm resting on the table and use that to guide my brush....kind of pushing my whole arm and keeping my fingers and brush still...

Then I reverse my hand so it is facing me and bring my brush to the back to do my smiles...

Is this making any sense Lol.. because I can see myself doing it but can you ??? :green:

Again when doing my nail bed zones I keep my arm flat on the table, and just move my hand and fingers... and I keep the arm I am working on flat on the table and finger I am working on Propped up on a white block....

works for me ! lool

practise practise practise lol! I started off always sculpting and mainly practised on my self so after a wee while I could do it no probs! I use tips now and then popits its sooo much easier for a french L&P, just got my calgel and doind the wrong hand was a challenge lol xx

When I do my wrong hand, first of all, I warn everyone, even the dogs get out of my way.

What Emms says is right, I go into contortionist mode to do mine too.

I wouldn't put your white on the tips first hunny. Apply the tips and then go for it. You will find as Emms says the angle of your brush quite hard to get right in your head.

What I find does help is, when you balance point precision, don't just balance your pinkie, balance your middle, ring, and pinkie fingers too, I have found that it steadies me a lot better.

There is no easy answer answer I am afraid, it's a case of having a bottle of wine at the ready too.

But... I'm not in the mood for doing them tonight!!! pmsl

Thanks for your input so far peeps, when I've tried it freehand previously it's been a disaster, I'm going to have to get my brave hat on and just go for it I think :Scared:

My plan is to place my white at a 'natural' length and use opaque pink for zones 2 and 3.

If they turn out ok you might even get to see pics LOL

Why not do them reverse? It will make things a lot easier, It is so much easier to then do your white.

when I reverse my hand over to do my smiles...
It's quite funny actually,
I prop my foot up on the chair...(up near my bum) so my knee is up near my face lol.... kind of wrap my arm around my leg, so my nails are facing me.... then I use the knee to rest my pinky and wrist on...

I never actually thought about it, or how complicated it sounds untill now ...
I must remember to NEVER get pics of me in that position :green:

Anyone got any easier idea's I am sure there has to be many lol

:eek::eek: sounds more like the karma sutra hun

Well I suppose that is a new twist on nail product application!

Sorry Sandi, right ladies back on the thread now, Emms you should do a thread in chit chat about positions pmsl

I find it also easier to do smile lines with gel. I just finished L&P in November so...
But if i do french on myself i mostly use the reverse application. I sculpt the nailbed and if needed i correct the smile line with abrasive. Then just put the form back on and do the white part.
Or I just use thin paint on white gel ontop of L&P before finish/shine gel. Dont have to really move any sticky layer or buff and no worries about service breakdowns.

Emms pm me when you instruction video is ready:lol:

Right, I place my right hand on the desk, at a 45 degree angle to my body to do the fingers. I place my white bead onto zone one and, whilst resting the side of my left hand on the desk I push the bead up to the corners and sweep it back down.
Then, I lift my right hand bend my fingers to close my hand into a flat fingered fist, then angle my brush above my right hand knuckles, resting my left hand on the edge of my right hand, to steady it, then tuck the smile in, and sweep it.
When doing my thumb on my right hand I just sit my hand on it's side & balance my left hand on the desk again.
I seem to get pretty crisp smiles this way, sometimes they are better than the ones on my good hand lol!
Zones 2 & 3 are done with my hand laid flat on the desk again. It probably takes me 2 or 3 beads to do these zones, but I'd rather take it small & slow!
It's all about practice as you know Sandi.

As far as doing the smile in gel wiping & doing L&p in the other zones - I can't say, as I've not tried it.

I done my righty the other day after avoiding it for as long as I could, when I did eventually do it I done it using the reverse method. I find it sooo much easier than trying to carve in a nice smile.

Sometimes I lay my right hand on my desk and move my left arm rather than my wrist (like emms) and other times I'll do it so my right palm is facing me then curl my fingers down and apply my custom blend in a upward motion (I find this position is better when you want to do the your smile the normal way), whichever way I do it takes blooming ages!

They came out really quite nice for the first time in ages, then I had to do the cleaning the next day and hand my hands in cillit bang most of the morning so they all lifted and now I've got to do them again!

I've finished them, and without using Emmsy's contortion techniques too

Thank you so much for your help

I had a few problems with my apexes and a bit of shaping to do, but overall I'm pleased with them.
Please let me know what you think.

Here's some pics...

Yay!! Well done. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I finish my wrong hand, knowing that from then on it will be plain sailing.

wow sandi,so you should be pleased with them.they've come out great well done.
i once did my mums nails using nsi l&p and gel and the worked fine with no problems.
i prepped the nail as usual and then did my whites using nsi sculptor white cured and wiped tacky layer.buffed over the white and then applied my l&p as i normally would.
i have a picture of them in my album, there on my second page and i also added glitter to the whites.
i did try adding the pic to this but it wont let me for some reason im not sure if its to do with the problems ive been having with my album.x
