Competely off the wall -

I have just come back from Las Vegas - a very "special" birthday treat (I think must be one of the oldest enthusiasts on this: site 40+ 10)

As you do - checked out everyones nails that I encountered - never seen so much variation in nail art - FANTASTIC!! And when you comment how fab it is you get a huge smile and even friendlier service!!

I coerce my clients to let me try subtle and "tasteful" additions to their service, whereas in Vegas the Sky is the limit!

As I said just an observation!! Suffering from post holiday blues!!

sounds like my kind of place.

I would have spent most of my holiday asking if i could take photos of the nails lol

My husband thought I was an embarassament when I would ask if I could look closely at whoevers nails took my fancy!! Why do some people just not get it????? None of my family or friends can understand my enthusiasm. They think I am a little (well a lot) odd. However, it made me so happy not so long ago when the daughter of a friend who models for me (i.e. lets me play for as long as I want) commented on the nails that her college friends have done at one of THOSE places, in that the smile line was too far down the nail bed. She has been listening and now knows the difference!! LOL.

It's funny though, everyone I encountered in Vegas (female) had their nails enhanced but over the 5 days there I didn't find one nail bar to have a nosey in!!

Does anyone else look at everyone else's nails?

Marjorie

hell yeah i always have a good old butchers lol

Always lol
my other half does too and always tells them when they are a mess, especially feet, he can be quite embarrassing at times,
your friends and family will get used to it (brain washed) and eventually will join in

Wow lucky you...wish I could go to Vegas.....I look at everyones nails who come into my work place if they have them done and I'm always asking where they got them done and how nice etc.....my partner dosent mind my obsession lucklily.........I am just dying to learn the acrylic techniques now!.....:)...oh...and I am 40 + 10 too..............................

I am always looking at everyone's nails, in person when I'm out and even when watching TV (I check out the actors fingernails) and the same goes for movies. See there are other people here that alway checks out everyone else's nails. Its so much fun!!!
:)

It's so comforting to know that I am not alone in my obsession - and not the only "mature" lurker!! I look at people's nails and make an instant personality judgement!! As I am solely responsible for the appearance of my husbands hands and feet I always look at other men's nails. I hate butchered nails on men!!

Sorry folks - told you I was odd!!

It is definitely an obsession once you're in the business! My wife has been doing nails for years, so naturally, I have become accustomed to seeing hers done up beautifully most of the time. In fact, I have even become somewhat of a nail fanatic and have recently taken an interest in it myself. I notice nicely-done nails and even point them out to her when I see someone with some really great looking nails, to give her some ideas.

We recently saw a guy in Vegas wearing his toenails painted and we both thought it was worth considering. I gave it a try and now I enjoy wearing them painted because they just look so much better than plain. I use grays and blacks mostly (masculine colors) and I find that I really like it, and I receive regular compliments as well. When I am asked where I get them done, I simply hand them one of my wife's cards and she gets another client! She has not yet shared her tips with me, but I do get my pedicures for free, so that's my benefit.

In my humble opinion, I think that more women should encorage their guys to get their nails done and even wear polish. In my experience, it is definitely not perceived as 'gay' as it once may have been.

I got mine infilled in the hotel (Circus Circus) salon. They were OK - but just OK !:irked:
I was told that the good salons are mainly off the strip though.
