hi :)

I am far from starting to work on the public but with christmas coming up i am thinking of asking santa for some help towards a manicure table for working from home.

the proffessional ones seem expensive and bulky but i like the look of this cheapand cheerful breakfast table.

I would just like a second opinion as to whether i will find it ok to work at. or would i need a wider table? (its a shame our dining takle is too wide to reach across to use!)

thanks
amy

What cheap and cheerful breakfast table?

I know I would never be able to have all my stuff on this tiny table.
just my 2cents but it's part of a budget, and you said you work/study acrylics, so choose a table with a special product that makes it easy to remove any "spills" $8not sure it's the right word... any... product stuck on the table?)

I have just bought a portable manicure table with wrist rest new from ebay for the same price, they still have them. I don't usually buy nail stuff from ebay but this seems fine. Just another option...

I purchased a really nice portable manicure table from Sally's. The price was very reasonable for the quality. The brand is Kayline. HTH and best of luck! :)

I know I could not work at that table and the chairs look horribly uncomfortale for anyone with more than 34" hips. You are going to be bumping knees all the time too.

You need a table also that is very stable ... you are doing physical work there, and you do not want it to be shaking all over the place as you are buffing.

Now i feel bad because i never gave good advise!
What about a search on here to see what other suggestions over tables there may have been.

Ditto to the other posters that said the chairs would be uncomfortable - I can't imagine wanting to sit on them for 10 minutes, never mind the length of a service. Too wee, too tippy, and no support. The table is too narrow and not long enough - just not enough space.

You've only got one back, so take care of it with a decent chair and desk. Cheap and cheerful won't help you when you hurt! I had terrible pains when spending long hours in a poorly made office chair - I hated my job just because of that chair!

It doesn't have to come from a beauty supply company - I know a lot of techs here have a desk from Ikea that is reasonable in cost, and providing it's comfortable and ergonomic for you, you can make a desk out of a lot of things.
Have a good look around, and do a search on this forum for desks/tables and you'll find a better option.

Good luck to you! I know it's exciting to get started, and buying furniture and supplies make it all real, but just take care in what you're buying and it will last you a long time.

Why don't you buy an ironing board, they are hot stuff

I got my desk from Ikea...brilliant value, I cant remember how much I paid now but it was around about 70 squids I think. you choose what colour/finish you want and put it all together, I bought some white drawers for one end, 2 white legs for the other end and a beech effect top...and its all very sturdy.

I have this breakfast bar, I bought it about a year ago...(maybe longer actually)
The chairs were litrally a pain in the @rse lol..
One of my friends sat on one one night, and it slid slowly to the floor with her looking a little like this

I bought some gas lift stools instead... I can sit at it for a while, but for longer periods it would be no good really.
The shelves are very useful though.
I do sometimes find I end up stooping right over not good for the neck at all

I have to say though hun..... I bought mine from a store called B&M for £25.00, I think they have gone up a little, and are now £29.00

My personal opinion is, it is good as a 'for now' table.... the chairs are not worth a carrot, Eventually I would look at investing in a proper nail table, with correct chairs to aid your posture...... depending on your budget you might just want to start as you mean to go on though and get a proper table to begin with xxx

( I think I am ok to post these prices as they are not product related ... if I am wrong Mods I am really sorry )

thanks everyone!
i have decided not to go for it! ill find something more robust and yes, the chairs look painful, id have got different ones i think!
im liking the look of the desk torella put a link on for. (with a protective cover!)

thanks again for all the advice! im now addicted to this forum even though iv not even started working as a nail tech yet! its all really interesting.

I love that table from Ikea - I have a portable table but this would be lovely if my son decides to move out as I have my eye on his bedroom for a treatment room as my daughter will qualify as a beauty therapist next year and we have thought of combining our services :)

I was looking at something similar to the one in Argos when I first started out but decided against it, simply because if I had more mature clients they may not be able to get on the stools!! You have to think about the client aswell as yourself!! xx

woo i helped :D

i havnt actually got that desk that i put a link to but i was planning on getting one.. let me know if you do decide to go with it and let me know how you get on

xxxxx
