I have been advertising for a week but have had no calls yet:sad: I have left leaflets all over, a ladys gym a tanning shop the local fabric shop, and have deliverd to houses while doing my delivery round for dhl so have been able to introduce myself too!! A few have seemed really interested but still no calls. How long does it take to get a client? even 1 would be nice!!:(

Are your leaflets price lists or special offer promos etc,

Do you have a website ? If so are the details on the leaflets.

If you are a home salon I think its important to have a website so clients can get to know you through pictures, an introduction, training history etc.

For a client it can be quite nerve wracking going to a home salon as you can't go in and have a nose round before booking treatments or meet the therapist the only contact you get is the phone call to book the treatment.

Some people respond to flyers straight away others keep them in a drawer for when they need them. If I called every takeaway after getting a menu through the door I doubt id ever eat a home cooked meal !

thanks! yes my flyers have a promo on them and price list on other side, they say a bit about me too! My father in law is currently making me a website too :D. Just feels like nothing is happening and having flyers/price lists done aint cheap with no clients to pay for it:sad:

it takes a while to pick up, keep up with the advertising, have you tried advertising on gumtree?? that is where i get a lot of my clients from

GOOD LUCK!!! ;)

Hi,
I agree with Bombini, a website will be good for you. Mine went live in December and I purposely put pictures of my home salon in it so people could see that it was nice and professional and that I wouldnt be performing treatments on my kitchen table!
My phone started to ring almost immediately and after two months I was getting on average of 4/5 calls from new clients each week.
I only wish I'd got my website going in time for the run up to xmas but get it done quick, you won't regret it.
Best of luck to you
Heather x

It does take a while so hang on in there - try and offer a free treatment or reduced price to a popular person - they will spread the word which is free but invalueable. Hairdressers seem to be a good bet or a popular mum at school.

Yes deinitely approach professional organisations and offer incentives perhaps even taster sessions during lunch breaks for office workers..You could approach the local police and offer stress relieving massage etc at introductory rates..If one of them can get say five clients for you you can offer free treatment to them...that sort of things... something I will be doing myself... Good luck..

I do feel for you because I'm on the same boat. Room ready, leaflets made, website up and running and I have advertised on free websites. Hmmmm all I need now are some clients. I did get a call from the local school PTA who are running a pamper evening and asked if I would be interested in doing some treatments. I pay £10 to the school and all the treatments are then paid for by the parents. Only problem is that my couch is portable, well it was sold as being portable, thats if you have a crane and can take two strong men with you. I can't not do it though as if it brings in one client it will be worth it for £10.00.

Hi Hun, do this pamper eveing that way yes ok you may only get your money back but it can also offer you some clients. Offer a discount on the night for anyone booking a future treatment. If they like what they get they will book. Try and find out what other therapist are offering on the night and try to offer something different. My first pamper night I didn't do anything but Ear Candle Treatments - I got two candle parties booked that night. Good luck.

A week...you need to give it longer than this. It can take time. Get yourself on as many buisness directories as poss. A web site is a great way of gettin clients.
I dont concentrate on putting leaflets through doors. I may do a few no and then but really this doesnt work for me.

Word of mouth is the BEST form of advertising. You have to and you will find a way of working on your clients (without sounding desperate) to get you more clients.
Your first client will book soon huni I am sure. So in the mean time I would start to think 'what can I offer this client?' I want her to re-book plus get me another client. This is how I started to build up my client base. I have had to start over 3 times now so it does work!
Good luck, you will get there, just be patient  xxx

Thanks , I guess I shall just keep trying I need to put myself on some free advertising and hope my site doesnt take too long to get going.

Hey that sounds like me lol my business is part time though and im mobile, I have 2 main regular clients but most of my clients lost there jobs. Door to door leaflets does not work - prob same as me look at it then put it aside.

I hope that mine will pick up again I havent done alot given leaflets to family and some friends but with moving house and everything its hard.

Least your got a website I havent.

It be good if you lived near me Id have a treatment I need some pampering lol its not the same doing it yourself. x

Definitely get a website. I have had more people contact me through that than anything else.

Have a look at vista print they do all sorts of freebies. Get some of their free cards and put something like 10% off on production of this card but put an expiery date on so they cant put it away and think about it.Leave the cards in sunbed shops hairdressers etc ,some may say no but a lot will take them. hth and loads of luck x
