Chatty geek
I was in my local wholesalers this morning buying nail wipes, couch roll etc when I was approached by a girl about 16/17 and her Mum. They asked me if I had a trade card and I said yes explaining I was a qualified nail tech.
Mum said I was just the sort of person they had been told to look out for.
She went on to explain that they were looking at a nail tech course for the daughter, had been given a list of what was required and had gone in there to price it up.
They had also been advised to approach a shopper to see if they could hand over their cash in order to get trade prices when buying
I enquired what course which course the daughter was doing and was told it was a 5 day course covering. L&P, (they said acrylic) gel, fabric, mani and pedi.
I was standing there with my mouth hanging open but when I recovered I explained the cold hard facts. Mum was horrified, particularly when she realised she was just about to lay out twice the cost of my foundation course - with no kit. To say nothing of what sort of course the girl was going to attend. They had no idea about insurance either.
I spent some time explaining my training and gave them details of salon geek.
Mum shook my hand and as they went off I felt that I had saved one person at least from a demoralising start. Have to say though it blew my mind
