Do you think using white polish on the white tips in a L&P rebalance is cheating!

I'm talking about just in NNO and tip overlays (not scultping) or do you think it's best to use white acrylic?

Assuming you are talking about painting polish on top of the acrylic? Not sure you can do polish and then the acrylic. There are products out there that are paint on white that can be applied under product. I don't regard it as cheating. There is a talent in anything you can do and doing what works for you and makes your client(s) happy puts money in the bank.

It's not cheating it is just a different way of doing it. I don't think it is the best way as it tends to wear a bit. Lots of places do it this way though. :)

If it's what your client wants, they why not! :)

have you thought of using a thin layer of white gel ontop of the acrylic instead of polish ????? I do this when doing popits

Thanks guys

yes it would be on L&P... white polish for the white tips ..and then coloured polish on clear tips, the the acrylic on top.
It's just I struggle so much with my smile lines that I thought this way would be better for me and making a smile line using polish is dead easy...and quicker for the client. But if it's looked down apon as a cheating type of way then maybe I won't do it!

It not necessarily cheating but you are likely to experience all sorts of problems. L&P is designed to bond with the keratin in the natural nail and to the material used to make the tip. Polish is shiny like a form, and your L&P doesn't bond to the form does it?

I'm sure you weren't shown this in training. Why not book a one to one or skills building class with your educator. Watch videos, read tutorials, and practise your smile lines like mad. Even just on a tip when you are not with a client. It really is very important as a professional nail tech to be able to do this.

Painting a french on top of a finished L&P nail enhancement could get you by till then. Good luck.

You could get the paint on white gel that creative do, looks just like a polish bottle..
All you do is do your french polish wit that as normal pop it to cure under lamp and top coat it.

BINGO.

I think this is a better way of doing it(apart from sculpting) for people with shorter nails.

I'm sorry but you could do this but quiet frankly I think there is no short cut to practise, practise, practise. I have done lots an lots of nails on family an friends for free ( cover costs only ) and got my smile lines okay, then started exp zone 3 probs, now exp zone 2 probs. I think if you shortcut yes will look okay, but is this what you always intend to do your nails hun, if not at some point you will need to practise.

I am currently doing a psychology degree and it will take me 3yr to complete and I am sooo frustrated at some of my essays and seminamrs, and prob cud cheat, but would that make me good at my job??? also would it make me complete my finals in 3 yrs time, prob not no.

What I am trying to say is I am newly qualified to nail ind, but would say until few yr practise i wil not be truely comfortable with my job. Hey when the going gets tough the tough gets goin, lets not give up and jump ship, just keep at it an u know what one day it will click hun xxx

Look at it from the customers prospective I say! If I went to what I thought was a qualified nail tech and paid good money for a set of nails I would not be happy to find that the whites were put on with nail polish - that's not what I paid for!

In this industry there are lots of people out there who are not trained and are not doing the rest of us any favours but providing the sometimes unsuspecting public with bad service. Over here is Canada nearly every salon is an NSS and those of us techs that have trained correctly have trouble competing with the cheap prices and the cheap products or "cheating" way they do things in the NSS.

Now I am not saying that you are one of these people, but in my opinion if you are serious about nails and serious about offering a quality product and service to customers then you need to be doing nail enhancments the correct way, by following the training your were give to apply the particular brand you are using and by practising.

It wasn't until I did my foundation course that I realised the way I'd had them done before <white polish over a pink tip and overlay> wasn't the only way to do it. Ok, so it's quicker and easier for the tech, but it isn't so attractive and long lasting. It isn't 'Cheating' in the strictest sense, but the traditional method leaves it standing. Just carry on practising. Most of us have a headache with our smiles and it's really just time and effort that's going to relieve it! :)
