Hello everyone,

I did a set of nails on a lady last week using L&P pink and white by Creative. She was very happy with them and so was I, problem is now I've had a phonecall to say that there is lifting and the tips have gone grey??

Now I was very careful with my prep and used Nailfresh as well as Scrubfresh and the tips looked fine to me. What do you think has happened here? I don't do nails everyday and this has knocked my confidence a bit as I don't like an unsatisfied client.

I have a set of overlays to do this evening and I'm already feeling nervous. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Hun,
Don't worry yourself over them, wait until you see them. Has your client dyed her hair? Sounds like something has coloured the tips, it may just buff off and you can then re apply gel top coat. As for the lifting, until you see them, can't say...is she hard on her nails? Or has she been using harsh chemicals? That could be why the colour is off too.
Keep us posted on the results.
Best of luck, and don't worry over your next client.
Lotsa luv x   x

Thanks for your reply,

Yes until I see them which will be Thursday then I won't know for sure but I'm printing off and laminating After Care advice cards to give to the client so that they can take it away with them.

We'll see what happens

Please do not let thngs like this mar YOUR confidence. You can have every confidence in the product so look for other causes first and ask her what she has been doing!! You know this doesn't happen to nails under ordinary circumstances. Assuming you have done everything corretly ...

Is she using SolarOil daily? Is she taking any measures to protect her investment in these nails? Or is she abusing them? Mind you, it takes some serious neglect to mark up or discolour a CND enhancement so goodness alone knows what she has been doing.

Be firm, friendly and positive with her.

Thanks Gigi,

I appreciate your comments and I have taken them onboard.

I will be firm and friendly and I'll be able to tell if she's done anything to them herself so will keep you guys posted.

Thanks again,

Nora.

I wonder if she is a biter??? They are just the worst for neglect ... after all they've been neglecting them for most of their lives.

No she wasn't a biter, she had just had her nails done at a NSS in town and she wasn't happy with those which is why she came to me.

Did you use a gel topcoat? i had it before with some customers that they used the solarium on a regular base making the white looking dull and greyish due to uv- overexposure to the gel. Just one of the many possibilities out there... One customer told me on the phone that her hands looked like those of a dead person because the nails had gotten a dull color  when she came back in i saw she had used a transparant nailpolish over them that got discolored. i just removed the polish and everything was fine underneath.
Just wait and see what she has to show and what she has to say. don´t get to nervous or intimidated

It's highly unlikely to be anything CND.

I have had the odd discolouration with the whites going grayish - I used a uv top coat (not CND) and it did have a habit of picking up dye from clothing - such as new jeans etc - if this lady works in a clothes shop for example - she'll be touching & unpacking new clothes all day & the dye could rub off onto her nails.
Also, so hair coloured mousses can change the colour of the enhancements - one particular one is by John Freida (for blond hair) it makes one of my clients nails go a grey brown colour.
A quick buff will remove it - or even a swipe over with acetone.

Before you assume it's you - as the client exactly what she's been doing, wearing. Curry can make nails go yellow too, due to the turmeric in it.

It's a question of putting on your dear stalker hat and playing detective with this lady hun
