I'm here to pick your brains again...

Ok, so a client has dry skin and itchy patches of spots which she has been to the doctors about and they have told her it was dermatitus (SP??) then they now say it is psoriasis.

Anyway, the questions are:

1) Can anyone advise on anything to make her skin less dry and flaky without irritating the psoriasis?

2) Her nails keep splitting, but its more like surface splits (they dont go all the way through the free edge), I don't know how to treat it except to cut the nails or to put on enhancements.

Any advice would be brilliant. Thanks in Advance

you can put enhancements, but warn your client that you cannot garantee that they'll stay well in place. that's quite obvious as the nails brittle

she should be given a prescription for special treatment for the dryness of the skin, then you're sure you're not irritating.
if she doesn't like them or the smell and prefer some stuff you have, have them checked by a specialist just to be sure she can use them without risk.

A family member of mine has psoriasis and uses solar Oil all the time as it is a natural antiinflammatory.

When he has a flare up He finds that it relieves the itching and also softens the skin which relieves his anxiety which relieves the condition.

Firstly is your client under a derm for her skin condition ?? We cant be expected to treat medical conditions and tbh it isn't our place to do so:)
With regards to her enhancements it will be her condition that is affecting them and you need to advise her of this as written above by Doorie.
Also as Geeg said try Solar oil because this will soften the skin which may help.

I have psoriasis on my elbows and knees and use Oilatum cream, its also used for the treatment os ezcema and itchy irritating dry skin conditions as it softens, sooths & rehydrates, releieves itching, fragranc free and is suitable for both children and adults.

Its quite a big tube so can only use it in the house but as said above i have used solar oil and used to have one in my bag at all times just so i could keep applying it and it was fab (need to take a trip to leeds and get another small bottle)

I always thought solar oil was just cuticle oil (just shows how much I know haha!) Its her natural nails that keep splitting, she doesn't want me to cut them but I think it's my only choice.

Thanks all for trying to help and I shall get my hands on some solar oil for her xxx

Solar oil is good for many many things, skin wise. dry elbows, heels...

(i can't believe I am talking about a product I don't sell!! lol)

I think the whole world knows by now that CND Solar Oil is the best bio-oil/cuticle oil in the business. It has won major awards every year along with Stickey and Supershiney (CND base and top coats) and as you say is used for a variety of things. It is a hall of fame product as well.

I use it as my moisturiser every day. A few drops over damp skin on my face and round the eye area ... and my skin is really good to say I live in the sun and my age as well. Used it for 15 years.

Solar Oil is also a natural anti inflammatory, so good for burns, insect bites .. any inflamed area of the skin.

Thanks for the Geeg, my daughter scolded herself last night by spilling my homemade soup down her arm, so I'll lather it on when she comes home.

Back to the thread......

I have a client with psoriasis, her nails are slightly pitted, but not splitting.
Her enhancements last very well, with no lifting and she's a lorry driver!

Regular use of the marvellous solar Oil helps the skin around her nails, but it can become a bit red and sore, but with no broken skin.

It's not your job, in the end, to advise her on medication for a skin condition, but to ask her to see a dermatologist. However, you can sell her lots of Solar Oil, which will help until she gets to see one.

Good luck with it xxxxxxxxxxxxx

hey
i have a client who suffers with psorasis all over her body and when i recommended santal oil by clarins mixed in with one of there other body oils, and this seems to do the trick.
so if she suffers with it on her body aswell as her nails i know these products are good as she buys 5 bottles of the stuff off me at a time as it really calms it down.

Thank you for all your help, as soon as my certificates come through I am going to send them to sweet squared for an account :green:
