I will be going mobile plus am trying to sort out having a treatment room at home also but wondering about costs of decorating the room as it needs a new floor and so for those of you who are mobile and have a treatment room at home I am wondering what percentage of your clients are mobile and what come to your home treatmet room? Also where you mobile at first and slowly brought in your treatment room?

Any feedback welcomed x

I am mobile. But a few of my clients come to me for Nails & Tan (i just use my dinning room) all the people that come to me, are friends. I never get clients who i don't really know asking to come to me, i think they prefer me going to them! x

same here really, the only people that come to mine are my friends, my 'proper' ladies like me going to them :)

Wondering if anyone else has any thoughts on this? Thanks x

hello
im mobile but have a room at home that i would love to turn into a little beauty room, most people who come to me are friends and family and i go out to all my new clients
tracy x

I started off as mobile but really hated it, getting stuff in and out of the car etc and also having no control over the environment I was in.

One place was so cold (I was in an unheated conservatory in February) and when my hands seized up I asked her to put some heat on so she lit 6 candles:eek:

I now have a home salon and it is great, I lost some business from not going mobile but having all my stuff where I want it is so much better FOR ME

We all have our preferences, it is a case of 'suck it and see'

Good luck:)

I rented space, loved it but the owner thought she had the right to tell me what to charge and was very free with borrowing my stuff:irked: So I did mobile and like Adele I hated it, the wasted time traveling, doing nails with cat hair all over, clients who smoked/drank both..............
Love my home studio and its first place was my entrance hall. Its square and I have a breakfast bar in the kitchen that got moved to the entrance hall for my clients.
Now its in what was daughters bedroom, she's at uni now. I to had questions about the floor and then went to visit Angel fingers. Her flooring went down a year ago when she moved house and for her the problem was speed, she had clients booked in and the house move had to fit around them.
So for quickness she put down sticky backed flooring that looks like laminate wood, from the pound shop and one year on with all the normal wear and tear it looks perfect, so thats for me, cheap, easy to lay, hard wearing and easy to clean.:green:

Forgot to mention my floor.

It is a vinyl (more expensive than usual) that looks like wood planks. Apparently it is the same as they put down in McDonalds etc. It is resistant to wheelie chairs etc:) HTH

I need a decent floor where I would have my room as whats doewn now is vinyl but its on concrete so its a bit bumpy and its cold.

hiya, i do 1/2 and half really. If people don't have the room for my couch to be put up in there house or if they live near to me they come to my house, otherwise i go to theres, i still get a bit nervous going round for the first time though!
I've converted one of our bedrooms into my beauty room and it's next to the loo which is good, as i'm in Spain we've got terracotta tiles down so it's nice and easy to keep clean! :)

I started off completly mobile but work at home now as much as possible my room is right by the front door and away from my living room so its separate from the rest of the house, I also have a toilet right near too. I don`t work at night times anymore now just all day on a sat so clients don`t interfer with home privacy.
All clients have been to my home at some point and as i`ve done my room out more professional it feels more like a salon to them too.
I just have normal laminate on floor a few pics on walls a tele on wall, I got 2 leatherette chairs from ikea as client waiting chairs for 40 quid each, a couple of shelves with polishes on and solar oil an stuff.
It doesn`t have to cost a fortune to make a room look good!

Majority of my clients come to me in the treatment room, but i do go out to some old dears locally at a few warden controlled homes each month for their waxings (bless) (I hope when I get to ninety twelve I still care about having a hairless chin hehe!!)

xxx
