When I do a spray tan I normally don't get the client to lift her chest (****s) as I don't think the sun would naturally tan you in that area. But I am doing a spray tan for a regular client (a spray tan virgin though) who is going on a beach holiday.

When I mentioned my normal spraying technique, she quite rightly asked me, "what about when my bikini top lifts my ****s up, won't that area be white?" This has got me thinking, this client has a large bust for her frame and I wondered if I should get her to lift her chest and spray underneath, dry with the gun, and then proceed as normal. Would it be best to start in this area as obviously if I spray the top of her chest first she would get tan on her hands by lifting? I have done a search but can't find my answer. I think someone mentioned asking the client to lift chest with a hand towel? Or do I ask her to keep her bra on until I have sprayed and dried below?

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Sharon

Well, I think the chest area is always the hardest to get right whatever the size, just with its normal undulations and cleavage it is something you have to pay attention to, too much spray and it looks terrible and can become sticky and liney. This is what I do, but all techis are different.

Yes I would start under her bust, I personally with the clients permission, lift her ****, if they are on the larger side and spray, but not too close. I have mastered taking the gun off with one hand by putting the gun between my legs and taking the hose off and drying still with the **** up, then I do the second one again not loads of spray and dry. Then I get the client to lift her hands and arms up above her head, this should lift the chest up quite a lot and then again a light spray and dry. Then I get the client to keep her arms up and I start my normal routine. ( i do let her take them down tho after a bit). For smaller ****s just getting them to reach up high above their heads with the arms should raise the chest enough. Don't be tempted to keep going over as you will get over spray.

Hope it helps, have a go.

I just ask the client to lift her ****s up. most of your clients will not bother about it some that as a little funny about it reasure then and tell then you get most clients to do this anyway and they dont worry about it. I spray under them then return to the top and start like normal.

I get all my clients to lift if they don't move enough when / if the stretch upwards.

As said before do not spray too wet as this makes that area look really bad....

Client lifts ****s up...you spray from pants line up and down torso to under ****s...dry with gun....she lets ****s go and you continue your spraying from top of shoulders up and down (and over!) ****s.

Remember if they are particularly large that you may have to spray the sides of ****s seperately.

Leave out the 'V' of the cleavage to avoid 'collection' of solution, the overspray from the upper chest will be enough to tan this area!

HTH.

Thanks for all your replies so far, they have been very helpful! xx

Don't forget that a similar effect can happen on the bottom - especially in more mature ladies. I usually get clients to bend over, spray and dry. That way they don't get a white line.

I normally give them the choice, if they want me to spray under ****s then I get them to lift them up and spray from under ****s to knicker line, then do top half and over ****s after so they dont get solution on their hands. I also give them the choice with bum cheek lines, if they want it done they need to bend forward so I can spray that bit. 95% of clients don't bother - its only the ones that are going on holiday that tend to be more worried, they normally comment that 'no-one see's that bit anyway!' lol

I use a towling headband......(really because its not too large.) I ask client to hold each end and stretch accross her chest and pull up. This is brilliant as is non invasive .....but before I do that I ask a client to stretch so I can see if they do not lift sufficiently. I also do their 'smile line'. using this term it makes them smile and less concious for a moment about having to stick their bum out or bend forward....... Hope this helps x

The headband is a great idea, thanks, I'm off to look one out for tomorrow!

PLEASE ladies DO NOT ask your clients to bend over so you can spray the smile lines at the crease of the bottom,
this is undignified unprofessional and not necessary at all,
ask your client to step forward with one foot, this will open up the crease and enable you to apply a light misting across the smile area,
then ask your client to do the same with the other foot and repeat,
a much nicer experience for your clients and yourselves hth

Hi Loubilou, until I read your post I'd been asking all clients to bend over to spray their under-bottom smile-lines (which was what I was taught to do on my training course). I've done a few spray tans in the last week and have asked all clients to step forward as you advised. Not only did it work perfectly, but it avoided any awkwardness and me having to demonstrate what I was asking them to do, so a big Thank You Very Much For Your Fantastic Advice!! xx

:mad:Your point taken about stepping forward, however please do not suggest that we are unprofessional. That is one thing, I and Im sure a lot of others that have been tanning for some time are definatly not!:irked:

People all spray in different ways and have different methods of acheiving their results. And many have been trained in certain ways.
I take on board your idea and will try it out, but please do not suggest us to be unprofessional.:!:

Thank you.
