there was something on gmtv about it, and a doctor was on saying beauty therapists shouldnt do it , etc...... , have to say i do agree with him , i think its a job that should be performed by a doctor, coz its way too risky , jmo x

I agree that we shouldnt be doing this...we are not doctors

I fully agree too - i always thought you had to be a registered nurse to give botox. It also says on air that you must be a dermatologist to give chemical peels too.

People must have been doing them without training....

i know , i got harrassed my a rep once to buy some aha peel stuff for facials , and i only dared use it on myself , coz its smell was like ammonia  and i was petrified in case afterwards clients didnt use spf they would get hyperpigmantation and stuff
so i spent a fortune :smack:and the bottles are still on my shelf , but lesson learnt , not to get talked into buying stuff (somehow it manages to stiill happen, lol )

I don't think it's something Beauty therapists should be doing.
Someone said to me that their dentist was going to be doing it soon.

I offer this service in my salon in Aberdeen. But it is a qualified Nurse who rents a room from me. We are not allowed to call it botox It is skin rejuvenation & anti aging treatments.

Anyone can train...........bit getting insured is a different matter.

I know a salon that offers botox but they advertise that it will be administered by a doctor

I always thought that even if a nurse administered it, they needed doctor cover, so a doctor needed to be present. However, there is one salon that offers botox locally using a nurse to perform the injections, so maybe I am wrong.

My OH is just going through the process of one of those screw-in tooth jobs, so has been back & fourth a few times ... is dentist is offering Botox too!

It would be like buying a rolex wrist watch off the street vendor..you just don't know if it is a real thing or not..How scarey

If ever there was a time where I wanted to go and have a bit of botox I wouldnt go to a salon to have it done, Id go to a specialist who was reputable!
Id hate to think I could come out with a Lesley Ash trout pout!!

im unsure if anyone can train. there probably sum black market thing out there though.

i searched google, it came up with quite a bit.

Fab info hun :green:

All the people I know who administer botox are retired nurses. Just wondering, who would supply botulinum to someone outside of the medical profession anyway?

A dentist would surely be excellent at giving botox as they give anasthetic injections in the gums and they are pretty presision! Lesley Ash had a filler not botox and she I am sure went to a specialist clinic and had a qualified doctor do it but anyone can make a mistake!

Its not a treatment i would ever want but its seems to be getting increasingly more popular and affordable, i saw a documentary which featured a botox party a few weeks back, i was shocked, the guy turned up with his bag, put a bit of tissue on a table with various snacks around, ladies lined up, lay on a sofa and got their botox fix, all after a few glasses of wine, its just not how that kind of procedure should be done imho, maybe i'm being a bit old fashioned about it, i like my medical procedures done in a hospital or clinic with nurses on standby if something goes wrong!

It has to be prescribed by a doctor.

Yes it has to be prescribed by a doctor but a nurse or therapist that has been trained to inject can administer it :Scared:
i was reading about it only yesterday in one of the beauty mags

i have a nurse do restylane fillers and facial implants in my salon once a month, she has been doing them for years in a very reputable cosmetic clinic. she has all the relevent insurance etc... i dont see the problem myself, if they are fully trained. although i wouldnt have someone who was newly qualified! and i certainly dont think therapists should be doing them... didnt even know this was aloud....
