OK all you London geeks - I'm going to be in London early in November for a flying visit. What would you recommend I see? What are your must see places? I need opinions :green:

And just how cold will it be? Remembering I'm coming from late Spring early Summer weather. Am I going to freeze to death?

So let me have it - where would you go and what would you see if you only had 3 days? Thanks!

Get the tube to camden town & go right up to the camden bridge and visit the stables ....its fab.....

The stables are stables full of little shops ..... Its like a foreign country .....I love it x

It depends on what you are into>

I took my girls into London a few weeks ago and in 1 day we saw loads of things.

We got the tube to Embankment and then did a boat trip down the Thames and saw loads.

We got off at the stop at Big Ben and walked down Whitechapel (I think) LOL and saw parliament, Big Ben, Downing Street and all the way down to Trafalgar Square.

We then got back on the tube and went and had a mooch round Harrods, then coffee in Starbucks.

Back on tube to Green Park, walked through the park and saw the Palace and then back to Train station and home.

Probably one of the hop on hop off sightseeing tour buses would be your best bet.http://www.theoriginaltour.com/
As for weather thats difficult to say its often quite mild in London but be prepared for rain.

I think the tour buses are expensive, I would do this:

Search www to find all the places you want to visit

Print off a tube map and mark the places of interest (some have the same tube stop).

Then you have a route to work with

Get to london purchsase a 24hr tube ticket approx £5.00 per adult and away you go...

Hop on & off the tube and see everything you want...

HTH's xx

KFC Piccadilly circus
KFC Charring cross
KFC Buckingham palace
KFC Belvedere
KFC Hyde Park
KFC Oxford Circus

Done and home to rest and reflect on the sights seen...which are
KFC Spicy chicken wings
KFC Chicken salsa wrap
KFC bucket of 900 different types of chicken
LOL :lol::lol::lol:
Other than that a trip up the Thames to Greenwich is awesome..particularly if the weather is good

Where I work is a bit of a tourist trap. :)

more london

Tower Bridge, The Tower of London, HMS Belfast, The Gherkin, Potters Field Park and City Hall. (I can see that stuff now from my desk)
Then round the corner (2 min walk) is London Dungeon, The London Tombs and Hays Galleria.
There's lost of stuff to see round here - quite a lot for free and it's clean with lots of security (to keep Boris safe )

There are lots of nice places to eat to - Gaucho, Dim T, Strada, Cafe Rouge, All Bar One and Pizza Express.

When you come to london make sure you either go to www.vouchercodes.co.uk and print of a 2for1 ticket (meals and things to do) or book your dinner on toptable - you get deals like 3 courses for £20 and a free drink.....

Definatley go to Westminster, and try to take buses where you can. (if you grab an oyster card from a train you save a bundle)
I found during the tube strikes when i had to take the bus i saw sights i had no idea where just round the corner!
x

These tours are great for seeing the sights. Whenever I visit a new city it is the first thing I do .. It helps get my bearings and then you can choose to revisit the things that interest you the most.

Some of those buses are £25-£50 ..... I think its too expensive for something you can organise yourself....

However they are great buses with a great view, maybe you could get a special offer on one...

www.londontown.com is quite good for special offers....

Which ever way you decide to do it, it will be a fab day...

Oh & wear comfy shoes lol

Personally, I would have lunch in Gordon Ramsay, Royal Hospital Rd, Chelsea. It needs to be booked precisely one month in advance, i.e. thats how the booking system works!

Lunch at the Ritz

Boat trip to Grenwich or ideally Kew Gardens - a good bit of historical and entertaining commentary .

The Tour Bus (you can get a ticket where you can get on and off all day) - it gives a fab overview of London with a great commentary.

Dine at The Ivy in the evening (if you can get a table).

Theatre.

A great website for deals is www.toptable.com.

Ennjoy & have fun!!!

It's LUNCH at the Ivy and TEA at the Ritz.
I live near London, my faves are;
Harrods (chocolate cafe third floor or champers bar 2nd floor)
Harvey Nicks (great handbag dept and the bar on the fifth floor is world class)
Claridges (Ramsay restaurant and great bar)
Covent Garden
Buckingham palace
St James
St Katherines dock
The labrinthine parts of the city
Plus not fogetting dear old Fortnum and Mason
Yes it will be bloody freezing, bring a coat x

thanks for the ideas everyone. I'm getting pretty excited now as it is only a month away. It is a short trip for my 40th birthday, and it is the first real holiday we've had without the kids.

KFC tour - too funny. Is there REALLY a KFC Buckingham palace?

Wishing you both have an absolutely wonderful time in the UK and enjoy your sightseeing tour around London

Yep KFC Buckingham palace now the queen has to pay taxes like the rest of us:eek: has taken a franchise as a means to boost her income...apparently not enough Australians are visiting the palace since a cheap bar opened up just around the corner ...apparently it was a toss up between subway and a KFC franchise...of course KFC won hands down...apparently something to do with recycling....something along the lines that she can also reduce her household bills by feeding the corgi's and staff on the left over chicken bones :lol::hug:

Enjoy your trip over

Btw .... We got tickets to Grease at the Picadilly Theatre & dinner at Ruby Blue in Leic Square (it was fantastic) for £29.00 each....search the net, the offfers are out there.....
