As damn near everyone in the industry knows; The Battle of the Professional Nail Industry Web Sites ended last night at midnight. People can no longer buy tickets and I will only accept cheques through the post up until the announcement (which really means if you haven't sent it there is a good chance I wont get it).
Things were really tense between our friendly competitor (Beautytech.com) and ourselves. For the majority of the raffle, we were really kicking serious butt cheeks. Then somehow, out of the blue, the Americans suddenly closed the gap between us and them and then began to maintain a marginal on and off lead.
In a nutshell, this past week we have been neck and neck virtually every day.
That really put the pressure on us here as because of the time zones, our raffle closed 5 hours before theirs. Which gave them 5 hours to squash us!
Well, after a neck and neck race last night and the cheques I entered this morning (there were a few as I have been off ill most of this week, sorry about the delay guys.) I am pleased to announce the totals:
I know several printed to send off yesterday and Tuesday. However if I do not get them before the draw on Saturday night, they will not count toward the raffle (however I will still happily forward them onto the foundation with the rest of the cheques and money orders).
So, though we are not out of the woods, things look pretty darn good for the geeks which brings me to my next point.
I want to thank everyone from the bottom of my heart. We managed to keep up (and ahead) of a market base that has around 8 times more of the amount of people in its industry. We managed to raise close to $5,000US by each and everyone dipping into their pockets in order to fight a disease that affects so many womens lives. You should all feel very proud. After all - you are a Geek
I have now solidifed the announcements. They will take place in the Geek Chat room on this Saturday evening at 9pm GMT. I will be there but it will be Doug Schoon doing the announcing. Should be fun
Thanks for everything
