You all know I'm getting on a bit and I would like my skin (which is in really good condition as to firmness and lack of wrinkles) to generally look smoother.

Have you all seen the amazing things Dr. Shamban (from USA Extreme Makeover) does with skin using what I think is a laser and some clear gel of some kind?

Does anyone know what this treatment is called? I'm thinking about it.

im not sure if its the same as this one but there is a lady who goes in the salon i use to work in, she does laser facial for about £200 a treatment and they are fantastic i dont no alot about them but i will find out. she has done tv work. i will find out the name of the company.

hi geeg havent seen the programme but think this sounds something like a chemical peel (as if you need it)

Could it be micro derma abrasion? I was reading in the Mail today (I think it was that paper) about that, and something where they take the top layer off your skin - this was referring to knees, as apparently Nicole (Kneecole, as she was referred to) has an inch of sag under her knee cap...

.. and celebrities have started having things done to their knees now as they look ancient compared to their bodies!! BUT it is really hard to do as with a face lift, you can hide the scars behind the ears!

Thanks Judy ... never thought of googling it. duh

whats the matter with you as you are??

You dont need it!!

laser resurfacing is what i think you are looking for.
I know that you have to avoid ANY sun exposure after it for quite a while so better to have in the winter especially where you live.

You're very welcome. Let me know when you are going, I could do with a holiday:) and a little treat to myself!

Thank you for your helpful advise everyone.

The problem I have is just generally uneven pigment. Faint brown spots around the eyes etc. I know they are very faint and a little foundation evens things out at the moment, but I thought that maybe now was the time to get them removed before they got too noticeable.

I am careful in the sun, but then I do live in the sun and can't help being exposed to it. I go a nice toasty brown just naturally and I do like that look and colour. I never go an extreme brown colour and do try to remember to put a highish factor on every morning, certainly in the summer months anyway.

I will make some enquiries and let you know but am I right in thinking that what Ava Shamban does is a medical procedure and not something a Beauty Therapist would do?

Doh I'll sort you out when I come over!!!!!!!!! ... nothing that a paper bag won't cure!!! Lol, you know I jest, but I am sure Nimue can work wonders for your hyperpigmentation, I've had some fab results with clients here. Looks like I'd better bring a consultation card, as well as the eyelash tinting and perming kit and facial stuff!!!!

ooh BTW you should be applying your SPF every couple of hours, not just in the morning, and even if you are indoors!!!

Are you sure you are going to have time to get your root filling done Sass! Looks like Geeg is going to want all of your magic tricks done!

(only joking Geeg - I think you look fab! But I also suffer from the dreaded sun spots sindrome)!

Listen. I'll take anything on offer!!! Desperate times call for desperate measures!!

I will allow a little time out for the root filling ... but only a little!!

my friend had this facial done at the salon but it is done by a specialist, you can not have a tan and you can not go in the sun afer.
you would need a course of treatments.
it makes the pigment come out so a few days after your facial your skin will be dark and patchy.
Iv been told it feels like elastic bands being flicked at your skin.
After the facial you will have to wear a very high factor if not u will be undoing all the work.
hope this helps a little.

Does this mean that my skin will be smooth but that I have to stay WHITE as a fishes belly all the time. The first time I tan it'll all come back?

Christ geeg I don't look as good as you now & I'm half your age!!! I'll have a pint of whatever you're having and suffer the pigmentation:)

That is sweet of you but I'm sure not true. Honestly, I'm not doing too badly but thought I could improve the eveness of the colour of my skin. But I'd rather have a few brown spots than be fishbelly white for the rest of my life!!

Stick with the brown and leave the fishies where they belong!
