Since I joined Salon Geek I just can't believe how much I have learned.

I couldn't possibly list everything!!

Here's my list of things I wouldn't know about if it wasn't for this site

How to extend the nail bed

Minx, Colour Effects and Poppits

How many soak off gels are on the market (I used to think there were only two)

Scratch Magazine

I've loved seeing other techs work and seeing what other systems are like and all the fab tutorials!!

I feel I'm a better nail tech because of all of the valuable information that I've gathered from this site so a BIG THANK YOU TO SALON GEEK and all the mods who work very hard to keep the site running as efficiently as it does

So what is the best thing you have learned... can you pick just one??

Mostly how to 'hold my tongue'!! and there are still times when I just can't.

Mostly how to 'hold my tongue'!! and there are still times when I just can't.

Thank God for that... wouldn't be the same if you did!!

How lovely most people are and how horrible and sneaky a few people are.

Well you did ask! xxx

I have learned many things....I learned at the start how important it was to research for training...I learned that after that training you WILL make mistakes but you CAN learn from them.

I have picked up some great tips from those in the know.

I have learned so much from this site in regards to nails and the industry....:)

First thing that springs to mind, not to post in anger :smack:

lots of other things but I'm going to give it some thought!

Well for me it has to be, to get the best training available. Also the articles and tutorials that are here have given me a great deal of insight. Also knowing that when I am struggling, as so often happens :irked:, I am not alone, I am not the first person to have faced problems and with the aid of the search button, I can usually find the answers and they go a long way to helping me resolve my problems.
So thank you to everybody for taking your time to post.

I got great insights into how salon staff view their jobs.
I found out about loads of nail stuff including minx, that we have brought into the salon.
I found out that I am a salon hardened old battleaxe due to the amount of replies that i begin with "to be entirely truthful"

Nope! I cannot just pick one thing, I have been on this site for a very short time, but I am in awe at the amount of knowledge and help that is freely given by such lovely people.
Also great reassurance that I am not alone, even when I feel I'm loosing my marbles, and that everything will all come together in the end!

To echo previous comments, THANK YOU SALON GEEKS:hug: You are all worth your weight in Gold.

I have learned many things from geeks. Tips and advice, product info, ideas, nail art tips, all sorts of stuff. Thanks XXX.

But my friends that I have made just by being a nailgeek are top of my list!! so much so that we are all meeting for xmas lunch tomorrow :)
(well those that live near enough)

Also I learnt, in my novice days, knowing I was not alone as this geek community was here and while sitting on my own at home I could join in the conversations etc..

There are so many fantastic things this site had taught me.

The most beneficial is probably that nobody knows everything and its ok not to know, just ask and the geeks will answer you as best they can with no judgements. There is no such thing as a stupid question.

I have learned so many things its mind boggling, I will narrow it down to three that are important to me.

That without this site I would not have had the potential to be the type of nail technician I aspire to be. This site is a fabulous learning resource.

I am a lazy reader when it come to reading text books, its too static for me, yet my brain is full of all this nail tech stuff, this is due to this site.

That this site is full of generous, very knowledgeable and caring people.

A MASSIVE THANK YOU

Lol the advice is invaluble, to stop and think before I post , to respect some one elses advice and have an articulate polite answer when I don't agree ! My decision to convert toCND my decision to use poppits and minx all down to this site and the people - have 'virtually' met

learning to express myself in a foreign language LOL... It's not only the spelling or gramma, you have to be able to read behind the lines (or not) and write answers without sounding disrespectful or harsh in any way, still get that wrong from time to time:o

But also all of the above things, oh and that you can get the most wonderful help and support from people you have never met, that's so lovely. I often find myself saying to hubby, "mrs x do like this or said that" and you can just tell he doesn't have a clue who I'm talking about:hug:

OMG

It's more of a case of what DIDN'T I learn on Geek.
The answer to what I DID learn is simply TOO LONG.

Put it this way: one course was only 3 days long. I was sent home day one for "knowing it all" and only did days 2 & 3. The theory they provided was a minimal 12pages (approx) and 3 or 4 of which were all pictures.

I now have: Geeg's/Gigi's book, Doug's Book, Marian's Book, Vicki's ebook (for creating comp nails) and NUMEROUS tutorials that I've saved to my computer.

Seriously... Salongeek oughta consider offering an online theory course and providing diplomas to go with it:!:
