I am feeling a bit low.
I have brought MINX to the high street. Done loads of advertising in allsorts of places but no bookings?????
MINX is everywhere in the press on the red carpets and music awards how can people not be queing up???
I am feeling so frustrated that I am spending a fortune on nail products, rent advertising and for nothing??
I was quite up beat after xmas cos did lots of promos which has brought people in.
I am looking forward to better weather but what do I do n the mean time???
How is everyone else getting on???

Hi
I'm the same.
I'm having soooooo many clients ask about them and even telling me who they thought was wearing them etc and I'm still waiting for someone to book in. I know a lot have said that as soon as the weather clears and the flip flops are on then they'll book in.
I'm doing a big promotion on pedicures in March it better be warmer then lol

I would love to have mine done, but don,t know anyone in my area that could do them.
how about asking a hairdresser in your area to wear them to advertise them to her clients (in exchange for you doing hers for free)

Hi hun, I should think Oxford is quite similar to Cambridge, funny old place, some areas seem to do really well for nails and tans and otheres dont. Mine doesn't and I really have to keep pushing these things. A friend of mine only works a few miles away and is bombarded with nail clients.
I think you just have to keep plugging away at it, but dont just center on that. Waxing is what I do mostly so I have to just accept that is the case. Good luck hun, hope things pick up.xx:hug:

Hi Kezza
Lets hope we both earn a fortune once the flip flops come out !!!!
I have to think about my new promos so I will copy you and do pedis and MINX
Thankyou for your reply
Feeling happier

Hello Faye
Thanks for your reply. It is interesting about areas
I think you might be right.
I might rent myself some space in a different area to check if I get more interest. What a dilema????
I will keep my chin up xx

Where abouts are you based? I would love to MINX ya
I am based in a hairdresser and do the young stylist nails, only one of her friends has had minx and she loved them, lasted her ages. I really thought all their mates would be keen but no???

Im not panicking cos its just the time of year, mine are hidden in my shoes cos its too cold!!!
as soon as the holiday season starts they will be really popular im sure, a lot more salons are doing them now than last year so minx are more well known, my clients are already choosing what they will have for their holidays!!
xx

Hey I had this problem when i started dong minx and i was highly frustrated. I started offering clients to have just one on one finger free of charge with a manicure and see how many comments they get, once they get people commenting on them they are hooked and so are other people worked wonders hth x

Thankyou for that I will try that and lets hope it picks up xx

Minx is definitely not mainstream for fingers! They are mostly very bold and that doesn't fit the 'average' client.

But I do believe they are 'mainstream' for toes as they look so fabulous once you get your feet out!

Mum is right, Minx is not mainstream. How many people buy nail art - very few - and what is Minx? Well it's mass manufactured nail art for dummies.

Minx themselves state it's only good for 4 to 6 days on fingers but up tp 4 weeks for toes. So again Mum is right - target Minx at toes. It's more cost-effective for clients and it will appeal to more customers because they can hide in their shoes in their serious day-job, and bring it out on holidays or weekends when they are casual.

But don't for one moment think it gives you a longterm competitive edge - if every salon in your area starts to offer Minx - perhaps including the low cost salons - what will you do?

Minx is quick, it's easy to apply and it's different, today. But long-term you have to offer skills and services that your competitors don't. If they can buy the same easy to apply solution as you - you really don't have a competitive edge. So don't build a business strategy around that.

How are you selling it?
I made some flyers , just black and white one sided I think about 6 pounds for 500 or so so after 2 minx treatments you would be in profit (including the minx)
I added some blurb about celebrity's using minx and bigged it up a little, and then I added the treatment as Minx with a mini mani/pedi and free removal, this "free" mini mani or pedi gets attention when in reality that is the prep.
Also I keep my left over minx and I offer a free sample so that clients and have one nail done and see how it lasts and looks on them,
Do you wear it your self? I don't very often but I have to say when I have had it on I have had more people ask about it,
Hope some of this helps
C ^-^

Hi melons,

Just wait until the sunshine comes out, believe me they will all want it. I have started getting more bookings for the coming months all for feet mainly. Most bookings are for holidays people saying "when I have my sandals, flip flops on".

I am confident that MINX is going to be HUGE this summer. xxx

IMHO I feel that MINX is not right for day to day people. It is more of a show kind thing. I also find that for how long it lasts looking there best (2-3 days), they are very expensive. When I have asked clients about them they say they are lovely (on the red carpet) but as soon as I ask if it would be something that you would like to have done rather than just plain pink and whites, I usually get a distinct no! They usually say that the designs that they have seen are very in your face and would not feel comfortable wearing them in Tesco and day to day life.

They do seem a bit more willing to have them on their toes as they can control when they are on show. I would say, try to concentrate on getting people to have it apply to their toes.

Good Luck!

I have people clamouring for Minx because I wear it..... I target mainly toes so as soon as the weather warms up I get the boldest/shiniest Minx on my toes and get my flip flops on. Clients and members of the public always ask what it is and then want it - simples!

I belive it's a product that needs to be seen rather than talked about to get the full impact, and I'm finding 6 - 8 weeks on toes is by far the normal longevity. Also, once people start wearing it they tend to wear it all year round, but the summer is the best time to get people interested because they can see it.

Thank you so much to everyone that replied. You have all made total sense.
I must give myself a kick up the butt and stop feeling sorry for myself.
Put my sensible head back on.
What I need is come celeb clients roll up roll up !!!

Thank you, I will wait for spring, not long now for all bare toes
Thanks for keeping me on track

What about putting your minx on one of those polish wheels

So if you have one design spare of you more popular ones, put them on the wheel and then they can see what they look like against thier fingers

Just a thought

xx

I have been very busy with Minx this month and I can not wait till the sun shines some more as I have a very good feeling that Minx will be the most sort after treatment for this coming season!!
