I recomend trying ENVIRON EssentiA oil, works miracles for me and my sore dry hands. My friend uses their products on eczema on hers 2 year old daughter and it`s great! I know that products are a bit costy but if you want to make sure about this go to their site and you can send them your pictures and doctors reply to you with more specific advice.

Helo Jac
My step dad suffers with really bad psorisis. I know he uses natural soap with tea tree in it. He gets it off a lady that mades her own. He has used it for years. I will ask him tomorrow if he uses anything else and let you know.

jac.. i do have another idea..... not sure if you would want to give it a try though cos it can take a while and be costly..

chinese medicine has been well known for treating skin problems.. i have known many people to benefit from it... maybe worth a try to get it seen by a chinese doctor....??

if you need to know a bit more about how chinese medicine works.. read this thread that i did a while back..

hope this helps..
A freind of mine had very bad eczema and did the Chinese route......very nasty tasting infusion and a very restricted diet but it cleared it!

Jac - have you tried homeopathy. I've heard wonderful things re this and skin probs.

Hi!
I feel so sorry for you!
When I met my husband he had very bad psoriasis on the face and scalp. He also had what is called Hubners syndrome, that is when you get pso in a place where you have experienced trauma to the skin , in other words, scars.
In his case, a big area on the leg.
I was just out of beauty school and rubbing my hands to get a go to help him. he had been using steriods for over 20 years with some relief.
I first tried aromatherapie, Lavender mostly, and that helped a bit. But one night I putted on Aloe Vera cream, and hallelujah, it had goten better over night. Three nights later it was all gone and it has never come back!
Now he uses the same cream twice a year(!) on his face and scalp, and he has abselutely no symptoms!
Now I do business in my salon, mixing creams for clients with rashes and exzema and everyone is coming back for more!
Get yourself a really good quality AV cream AND a plant. Drink the juice too!
That´s my best advice!
Greetings from Finland and good luck!

thanks you I will and thanks everyone for all the replies, I will have to work through them, till I find one that works for me.

If all else fails you could always chop them off.

i would use dermalogica's multi-vitamin hand and nail cream, jammed packed full of pure vitamins, and will help to repair the skin. it's nice and thick and will last for hours on the skin. dermalogica call it gloves in a tube and witha SPF15

it costs £16.60 but well worth it

good luck

Oh my, your hands look painful. It looks like contact dermatitis. You could be allergic to the products you are using or the gloves if they are latex. Are your hands in water constantly? You need to keep your hands out of water as much as possible. I would wear vinyl gloves, some people are allergic to latex gloves. At bedtime, put vaseline on your hands with cotton gloves to hold in the moisture. Steroid creams if you used too much can thin the skin, so unless your dermatologist has prescribed it, I wouldn't use them. Good luck.

Is the skin being aggravated by your pregnancy hormones? :green:

Hi Jac My hands were like yours a few years back and do get bad in the wintertime, when my knuckles split like yours i know its awful mine go all tight so I cant even bend them. I know its a steriod but it heals the split within a day or 2 at most. Its called Betnovate..but its not the cream its the Ointment I find the greasiness keeps it on better and helps lubricate the area too, you use it sparingly tho, your doc can prescribe it if you suggest the ointment. Also I got referred to a skin specialist to see if any allergies made it worse. Im allergic to nickel and cobalt if I hold my car keys too long or even coins i can get a rash. For when the flare ups arent too bad Ive tried a numerous amount of creams and the only one that doesnt "smart" is LUSH dream cream. But honestly it may be that this Betnovate Ointment will help. hths

Hi Jacqui. I don't know if you use it but avoid "Dove" products in case you use them, i have continually had clients who use it (myself included in the past) and it really plays havoc with skin on hands. Also have you tried E45 cream? Good luck.

I have two clients with the same thing, I apply aloevera then a aloevera lotion and give them a parafin wax dip once a week..works wonders.

Hi Jacqui!
Maybe try Aqueous cream, you can buy it in a tub from boots or superdrug or a local chemist. Its very good. I used to suffer from ezcema when I was younger , especially in the winter months and my fingers and knuckles used to really flare up. I found that washing my hands in warm water first to warm up the skin and then smothering them in aqueous cream and put on a cotton glove before going to bed really helps.... or you could even try Bio-Oil as this can also be really good for dry or dehydrated skin! Its worth a try! Hope this helps ;-)

Try and meditate 1 to 2 times each day. 5-10 mins each time is fine. Just sit and relax with your eyes closed and visualise the sores fading away and lovely new skin growing back in it's place. Don't think too hard about it; just be confident that this will happen. Try it for a couple of weeks and tell us if there's any improvement. Hope so. x

Jac,

Just wonding if you found anything that helped your hands.

Hi there
Have you had any blood tests recently? Is your scalp itchy at all?
Im with Tango on the use of steroids...only use if perscribed and theres a just cause for the prescription not just because they hae run out of ideas!

I have at one time or another used aqueous cream, betnovate, paraffin wax, cotton gloves with vasaline etc, I keep my hands out of water as much as possible, I know stress is a major factor as they are bad again at the moment, thanks for everyones advice, will have another look back through here and see if i missed anything.

no itchy scalp either:)

Hi
Wow they do look sore. Firstly have you tried paraffin wax? Secondly I would highly recommend lavender and tea tree oil. Use it neat and rub into your hands three times a day. If it is infected the tea tree oil will get rid of any nasty bugs in there! For the scars you could try getting hold of some vitamin E capsules. Break them open into your hands and massage the oil in. It was recommended to me after I had hysterectomy and I can barely notice my scar now.

Good luck
Heather x
