Just incase you don't read further than this post - this was an AMAZING APRIL FOOL'S that I fell for hook, line and sinker!!!
Beijing Olympics Opens The Door To Chinese Beauty Market
The Guild has been approached by the Department of Trade and Industry to recruit a team of UK beauty experts and suppliers to accompany the Great Britain Olympic Team to Beijing for the summer games. China is the fastest growing economy in the world, and the objective for "Team Beauty GB" will be to establish valuable trade links with the booming Chinese beauty industry. Team Beauty GB will also be responsible for making sure our boys and girls look their best and feel great whenever they perform.
Team Beauty GB will be headed up by the Guild, plus five other industry specialists or representatives from leading suppliers. The areas of expertise we are looking to recruit includes skincare and equipment manufacturing, hair removal, massage, aromatherapy, nails, training, and salon wear. So if you or your company can tick any of those boxes, we would be interested in hearing from you.
After an initial selection process due to take part in May, each member of Team Beauty GB will be required to be available from Tuesday 29th July August until Tuesday 26th August. The DTI will cover all direct expenses such as food, accommodation, laundry, travel and insurances. Each member of Team Beauty GB will then be paid an honorarium of 500 US Dollars per day for their attendance at the event, so that's a total of 15,000 US Dollars (which is around seven and a half grand in real money) for the entire trip.
Following selection, the Team Beauty GB team members will be required to meet up at the new 2012 London Olympic Stadium on Tuesday 29th July where they will spend three days getting to know each other and preparing for the trip to Beijing. There will be lectures from DTI representatives on Chinese business, language, culture, and even how to use chop sticks! After this briefing, Team Beauty GB will travel business class to Beijing on Friday 1st August where they will join up with the Great Britain athletics team in the newly built Olympic Village. The week before the games open, there will be a series of meetings with representatives of the Chinese beauty industry. Patricia Hewitt, the Minister for Trade and Industry will be in Beijing to meet up with Team Beauty GB, and so will her opposite number, Mr Wong for the Chinese Department of Trade and Industry.
On August 8th, one lucky member of Team Beauty GB will be picked to take part in the lavish opening ceremony, where they will parade in the stunning new "Birds Nest" stadium in front of a global TV audience with the rest of the team from Great Britain. Once the games begin, Team Beauty GB will split themselves up to cover all the major competition sectors including the athletics track, swimming pool, sailing and rowing venues, cycling, shooting, and equestrian events.
After the closing ceremony, Team Beauty GB will return to the UK on Monday 25th August and after a night's rest in a top London hotel, there will be a debriefing and press conference on Tuesday 26th August, followed by a black tie gala dinner sponsored by the Guild.
As you can imagine, we have already had a huge level of interest from companies and industry experts in becoming one of the Team Beauty GB members. If you would like to obtain an official application form for this once in a lifetime experience, please email me immediately at [email protected]
Good luck!
