Just out of interest do you tend to use vol or % when talking about developers? Percentage is generally considered to be the European standard whereas I believe Vol is more common in the States.

Personally I tend to think in volumes.

Fun fact: Each percentage of hydrogen peroxide will release 3.3 volumes of oxygen, meaning that 6% is actually 19.8vol, although the number is rounded up to 20vol. Or a true 30vol would be actually be 9.09%.

I use volume, didn't know it was more common to use percentage here though. :S Learn something new every day. :)

Probably depends on your colour house. Vol is easy to learn is 20 vol lifts 2 levels etc..

Vol for the same reason as Adam x

LOreal seems to be the only colour house which speaks 'vol' not '%'

Tomato, tomato.

(I think those a bit more old school use vol more commonly)

I use % all the time

% percentage for me. But I'm happy with either.

Always % here in Germany.

Haha no- your loreal!!

I have visions of my old boss - full head bleach with a bit of bleach and 40vol-

Volume. Am a l'Oreal user though (Redken)

I find the only people I meet who are "vol" are Loreal users. I'm a % person although my initial training was a vol salon

All the Aussie hairdressers use vol I've never heard %... Maybe once in a blue moon!
I use vol too ofcourse

That might be why I use Vol. Learned in a L'Oréal obsessed school. :D
