Is it just me or does anyone else hate being called hun????????
I know a lot of people on here use it and i apologise if it upsets you but i don't like it
It seems to be the word of the moment and i get complete strangers talking to me and calling me hun. AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH
Drives me mad! :irked:

I hold my hand up and say I do use the word hun a lot, and I use babe & darling. I type as I would talk normally so to be honest im just being me I suppose.

I remember a thread on this a while ago

There has been a few threads like this. I dont understand what people get so upset about.

Have we not been over this already?

I say "Babes" to almost everyone depending on my post as it is just part of who I am and I say it in real life too. I am sure some people hate it but lets face it, does it really matter?
Talking on a forum like this can be very dangerous ground, we have all seen the threads where someone replies to a post and the poster flies off the handle accusing them of all sorts. I think people generally use it as a sign of friendliness. I have seen far worse things said on here (not very often luckily) than "hun".

Ah yes, have just looked through some old threads and see it has been covered already. Glad i'm not alone and i know people use it as a term of endearment but it's just one of those words that i don't like. I don't mind chick or love. I think it's cos usually when people say it they are quite young and it comes over as quite false. Perhaps i'm getting old

LOL I find darlin' quite patronising but thats my problem. We all have those things that do our heads in don't we

Yes it's been covered already mate:)
I've been called worse tbh.

I don't mind being called Hun, although it helps that my first name is not Attila, lol...

I've answered to worse lol! Don't stress about it hun x:lol::hug:

Salon Geek tends to have a language of it's own and I think 'hun' is part of the geek language, like pmsl and iykwim. My favorite is 'peeps'.

I used to find 'hun' patronizing, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I will try to make a mental note not to call you 'hun' though. In all fairness, I think we should respect people's personal wishes with something like this. Eg. If someone is called Susan and detests being called Suzie, then we should try to respect this, bearing in mind that this is a huge site, so it might not always work.

I use hun allot more so when im talking online or on text.As sknight said talking on a forum is dangerous grounds and sometimes when you say something saying hun people wont take things the wrong way.

But i have a habbit of saying it allot

Oh no Sorry! I say it all the time to people without thinking and most of my friends say it as well. I'm really sorry if I have ever said it and offended anyone. Plus I'm not young I'm in my early 40s so I don't know if it an age thing maybe regional............but then again my first name is Attila! (not really).

Have to say I would never be offended or irritated by anything someone was saying to me that was meant as an obvious friendly term, just get easily upset by rudeness thats all. xx

Dont fret on it! Anyone can call me anything........i just like the attention LOL

it definately seems to have gotten more widespread and commonplace since the advent of the internet chatroom...

lycos, msn etc. . .it seems to be every other word. I guess it is emotive - friendly, and its kind of hard to do that with text . . .

I am way too tired...long weekend....I am probably rambling. . .

I work in a nasty place with bad attitude and nasty customers, its nice to hear people speak to you in a pleasant manor for a change, if that means using affectionate terms like hun, babe and darling then so be it - the world could do with a bit more 'nice' in it if you ask me.

Theres so many awful things going on in the world at the moment I dont think being treated in what I see as a pleasant way (which doesnt seem to happen to me very often) as a bad thing, bigger things than that to worry about!

I think this topic really has been done to death in the past - there are worse things in the world today than being called hun, love, babes, sweetie etc.

It is just a word on a screen and can be ignored in the same way as any other part of a post can be that you dont like.

Chill and enjoy geeking.
