I have been looking for a easy to follow spray tanning technique.

At last I think I have found one this video on you tube seems perfect for me.

Watch it and let me know what you think?

This is on another thread I've just read ~ it's excellent isn't it? It has really helped me xx

Not bad! One of the better one's I've seen :) although I've not seen the 'up and down' method before.

Seemed quite comprehensive and easy to follow. I'm no expert though as I've only ever been the 'tannee' not the 'tanner' lol, but all that will change come next Sunday :green:

Thanks for sharing :)

xx

whats really helpful is that you can see the colour guide

do you all spray tan the neck - sounds a daft question after watching this i know but i was told not too?

does anyone know what brands, (that you would recommend !), tend to have a darker colour guide to them - i currently use tantrick

thanks

kx

ok in my opinion!! lol

i thought she was spraying too slowly, and the colour guide was very dark, but i also thought she was spraying too wet especially as she had to dry the client with the air hose!

i never spray the chest area in the area from the centre of the neck down the cleavage, as it can collect there and look to dark as it develops, making the tan look unnatural,
i dont spray the neck area, when i spray in crescents from shoulder to breast are, the neck will catch the spray

it was interesting i have to say to see other techniques, , but i will stick with mine i think lol

I don't spray the neck either but I have only really just started spraying so thought it was something I was doing wrong!!! My colour guide doesn't come out that dark either ~ again, thought it was something I was doing wrong AND my spray is a lot wider than hers!!! xx

Hiya :)

I agree with that comment, but was wondering if it was purely because she was showing (us) how to do it? Therefore making it more deliberate than it should be? When I've been tanned before, it was sprayed a lot quicker than that.

I was also 'dried off' with the hose after tanning, I thought this was usual?

xx

well my clients are dry as soon as its applied, so they can get dressed and go straightaway!! no mess no stickiness, no bother!! lol

well thats tantrick for you xxx

This is not usual at all and if trained correctly you should never need to dry your client with air from your hose,
if she was deliberately doing it slow to show the routine then she should have adjusted her gun accordingly hth
i have watched the video now,
i would like to see how the girls tan turned out the day after as she had no solution applied to her ears or side of neck below the ears, and none applied to sides of feet or back of ankles, these areas should have been misted very lightly to blend in with the rest of the body lol

I dont like a solution with a dark colour a light guide is handy but a dark guide colour comes off on everything it stains your tent badly and all your clothes and bedding. It does wash off but i dont like it.

I trained with Lisa at fake bake and the up and down action is the way i was trained a bit diffrent for insde legs and inner arms.. I havent had any problems so far. xx

I was worried about her hair turning brown when she sprayed her face.

hi was i was trained with nsi they showed us that we could dry off if needed ,anyway i would probaly go a bit quicker as iv tryed the up and down method but i got a blast at first and it went on running so i had to blot it and also let the over spray go over the hands and feet and just run my mitt over them when im finished,i think its just getting pratice and getting it right

first off, if your likely to overspray in one area like that, then youe not ready to do it on a paying client are you!?!?!

second, not majorly important, but i would do the side of the body with the arm up first, then do the side of the leg while that dries off a bit with their arm up a bit still, then bring the arm outward away from the body, and spray that. this means your not going to get lines on the shoulder by spraying it then lifting the arm up. D'OH!!

Also, i would spray lightly over the hand whlist spraying the arm, so as to avoid any overlap at the wrists.

oh, an i start at the nape of the neck and down the back.

why detach the gun to blow air?! lol. i dont understand.

on a plus note, colour guide is nice lol.

I have read your replies and thanks for them but could you tell me if you think the technique of covering the body is a good one or not

Thanks

When you do your spray tan training who ever you chose to train with will show you their routine,
and you will get a training manual with the routine in there for you to follow,
training is very important and you can not train yourself from watching a video,
you may think you can but it will not be accredited training so you will not be insured hth

Hiya

I use the same technic and haven't had a problem with it. So far so good, All my clients are happy with there tan and I do alot of spray tanning parties. xxxx:Grope:

I agree, too wet, too slow... I dont agree with never spraying twice, I ALWAYS spray twice! :green: maybe I would get problems if I sprayed as wet as she does though! Looked like quite a few bits were missed to me too, how did she get any solution onto the thumbs when she sprayed the hands? I dont miss the finger nails and toes?? I use cuticle oil to stop them staining and spray the whole hand and foot! I dont spray the neck either  Maybe if she tested her spray on a bit of couch roll BEFORE she started spraying the client she wouldnt need to be wiping it off with a towel if it didnt spray right! does she think that because they are facing away from her they wont be able to feel that then??

Think i'll stick with my method too lol :green:

After watching the video, i do think she is spraying slower for the sake of the video and for instructional purposes. And the overspray is just to show that we can correct the mistake if by accident we do overspray.

I can understand her spraying slower for the video for instruction purposes, but as already mentioned, turn down the spray.. I dont understand spraying onto the back first until you are happy that it is spraying correctly so the client doesnt get to see it if it goes pear shaped! practise on a bit of tissue not the client surely??
