Hi,
I was wondering if anybody suffers with psoriasis on this site? and if so if they happen to have come across anything that actually WORKS!!

I have had 2 doses of psoriasis in the last 10 years and tried what feels like everything there is on the shelf, nothing seems to work.

I have little bits on my elbows and legs, and with the summer coming up, I really dont want hide my LEGS!!!

PLEASE HELP!!!

My husband suffers terribley from psoriasis and has done all his life - he has to go to the hospital for it and the only thing that helps is light therapy for him.

have you tried using a sunbed hun? I have a chum who suffers dreadfully, and now and again she will use a sunbed, for a few mins only (not really enough to get a tan lol) and it clears up lovely

also, a client of mine is a sufferer, and she goes to the hospital twice a week for hardcore prescriptive sunbedding! Yes she is as brown as a coconut, but her skin is fab, and its all done under medical supervision

A client of mine has horrendous psoriasis, and found this product called AKIN

I think this could be it.....Natural Skin Care, Organic Skincare, Cosmetic Products & Shampoos, UK

She has had fantastic results from it.
She uses the shampoo & conditioners, shower wash & the moisturisers and her skin is almost cleared up & she had BAD psoriasis.

I suffer from it, I get it especially bad on my scalp, the patches on my body clear up much better in the sun in summer!! You could try taking suplements like evening primrose oil, star flower oil, cod liver oil or apple cider vinegar, all of which are very good for the skin/ excema/psoriasis! hth x

Hi I used to work in a salon that did dead sea products DSD Dead Sea Discovery by Finders and it was great for psoriasis sufferers. But I think any good quality dead sea products are great for skin conditions. Try Ahava they nice products - I use them for body treatments. :)

Hi Shelley,

Thanks for your message!
I thought the sun would clear it up last year on holiday, but it didnt seem to do much good!! Have had appointments at the hopsital for use of a HIGH POWERED SUNBED, which was too bad but that part of my treatment ended, and was offered anymore!!
I had it in my head about 10 years ago, but that cleared up pretty quick.
I will try what you have suggested, thanks for that!!
Take care

Hi,
Thanks for your message!
I had a course of sunbed treatment at the hospital last year, when the treatment ended they never offered me anymore! I have tried so many things on prescription and have bought a lot of potions and lotions too. Even 2 wks in the sun abroad last year, never seemed to help I became so conscious of it with people pointing at my legs it got me down!!
Then I thought WHAT THE HELL!! If they dont like the look of my skin DONT LOOK!!
But I would like to get rid of it, as im restricted to trousers all the time!!

Hi there!

I suffer from psorasis, it seems to flair up with the weather, stress and anxiety. I did try sunbeds for a while and admittedly they did help but i don't like the risk factor. I was prescribed a strong steroid cream called Betnovate which is brill but you would need to see you GP as it thins the skin. I also believe that using an aqueous cream to wash your hands and put on the areas you suffer with it from is quite good.
Hope this helps, psorasis is a mare. xx:mad:

Hi

I Recommend Using Regenerative Cream And Centella Asiatica Gel Blended Together.

Works A Treat.

I really cant believe that someone that is beauty trained would be recomending sunbeds to you!!! They are so dangerous and bad for you and could cause ur psoriasis to crack. My friend suffers frm this EVERYWHERE it is probably the worse case i have ever seen but she swears by hemp body butter from body shop. Also try to exfoliate with a gentle exfoliator .Hope this helps ! xx

hi angie
i am also a psoriasis sufferer ive had it for 17 years and had numerous stints in hospital and light therapy ive used sunbeds various creams from doctors, these treatments reduced the symptoms but never cleared it. i am a gatineau trained therapist i found that gatineau body lotion with aha clears it within days. as it contains aha's it can penetrate deeper through the layers of the psoriasis. it is not a permanent solution nothing is. stress is a big contributing factor so try relaxation techniques as well.
best wishes beth

My boyfriend has bad psoriasis all over his body. He went to GP before xmas, was refered to hospital to see the dermo consultant. He was then put on a course of light treatment (UVB). He went 3 times a week and built up the time slowly.
He finished this treatment just last week and the psoriasis has totally cleared up. However, do remember that there is no cure only treatments that may help to control it.

I think you should chat to your GP about seeing a dermo consultant and have a chat about light treatment. They can give UVA or UVB (both can work for different people).

Don't give up hope :)

As an alternative why not try an aromatherapy blend, don't expect it to work immediately, but work it should:

50mls of either Calendula oil (which is expensive) or E45 cream into this put 5 drops of rose otto essential oil (again expensive) or Geranium, 6 drops of Juniper essential oil and 5 drops of Ylang Ylang.

Mix together and use every day.

Hi, I work in a sunbed shop and we get lots of people who suffer come up and use the beds, they only use them for this reason not for a tan, once they have it under control they come down once a week if that, they all say how well it works.
good luck:)

why? is it because you're not trained in the scientific principles and application of sunbed equipment? I was in no way suggesting that a psoriasis sufferer should fall asleep on a sunbed and wake up 3 weeks later, I am however suggesting that with proper consultation and care, sunbeds can really work for some sufferers of this skin condition.

I have very mild psoriasis which comes and goes, mainly on my scalp and sometimes my arms. I have tried so many things which make no difference and some that actually make it worse. Im in no way trained to give advice, only having a nosey as I going to train in nails at some point but I thought id tell you what I found that helped.
I bought a massive tub of pure coconut oil from the health shop for about £10 and it does help but takes time. I would use a sun bed as it really helps but I cant as I had a scare with skin cancer.
Im going to try some of the above tips cause everything is worth a go!
Stress really makes mine worse and affects my skin. At the mo my forehead has broke out but its nearly away thank god.
