Hiya,

Im in a small pickle as once ive done the clients nails or Pedicure some of them are putting on their coat picking there bag up to walk out the door as though they forget to pay and i then have to think up someway in my head to try and get them to remember to pay, it embaresses me so much to ask them for they money so is there anyway i can get around this to remember them to pay?x thanks x

Oh I hate that !! How about saying 'How are you paying today, cash or card?. xxx

Another tip is to do it before varnishing. Something along the lines of "would you like to pay me before I varnish your nails and then there is less chance of smudging them going into your purse"

I would do but problem would be if someone was to say yeah ok ill pay by card and i shall be stuck for words as i dont take card payments :irked:

i hate it when that happens x

At the end of my treatment I go over the aftercare and say "right so thats £xx today then please"

It sounds dead harsh and forward but then I have just performed a treatment for them for cash! You dont get offended at the check out in tesco when the cashier tells you how much your shopping was!!! Once you say it a few times it seems more natural.

Thats qwite a good idea thanks

Have had that happen!!! Just call out; 'hey hun, you forgot to pay' and laugh hysterically like it really was a mistake!!
With fingernails you can try the ; 'you want to pay now, so won't smudge later whilst rummiging in purse?' but that only works when drying varnish is involved...

Also had a few, 'shoot! left purse at home, will be in later?' Hmmmmm:rolleyes:
And ofcourse never do....

As soon as it kicks in that them not paying you, means you not buying what you want/paying the rent, you will find the nerve!!:irked:

That's creepy me writing exact same thing whilst actually doing something else at the same time!!!!

Sorry, was distracted by a call and never bothered to check!!!

Well, at least you know THAT one works!!! lol!

You shouldn't feel embarassed although I can understand how you feel, don't forget they came to you for a service which you provided.

If you are polishing nails, just say "it's a good idea or preferable to pay before I start and to also get your keys out of your bag as it saves ruining your polish."

Put a sign up on your wall in bold black letters explaining the types of payment you accept - somewhere they see.

end of the day hun, they are using your services. they know they have to pay. so dont feel awkward about it.

i fill out the record card and tot up their bill and thn tell them how much.

If they go to walk out just make a joke of it!! because chances are they have just genuinely forgotten!!

Thanks girls all very helpfull!! I think im going to go with for manicure and nails i will go along and say its best for payment before polish or nails are done incase they smudge for pedi's and my new treatments ill be doing ill just say to them ok that will be £xx :green: cheers

I had this the other week...a very lovely regular and a very honest mistake on her part.....she was mortified when i hinted that she hadn't paid....bless her. I think most genuine people will feel alot worse than you do.

this is what i would say if im in that situation.most of my clients say it first though by asking me how much!xx
its always awqward when you have to ask for money but you have to remember that they do already now that they have to pay.they might fell just as awqward as you.xx

When i finished i usually say something like - 'Well, there you go then, now let me get you booked in for your next appointment whilst you find your purse.'

Kills 2 birds in one - you get your money & you've got them in for another appointment.

I always find the 'assumptive close' the best!

Ok, so change it to 'Are you paying in cash today or in blood?' LOL. xxxx

You could say would you like me to write you out a receipt for your records? If they say yes then they can see the cost and either way whether they want one or not you say next "well that will be £** pounds please."

HI

Get a little spike for your desk and write out a docket then say: Right thats £25 for your infills and £13.95 for your handcream, so altogether thats £38.95. Then pop your docket on the spike and ask when would you like to rebook?

I used to find this one hard too, its worse when you're mobile.

Now, I finish with 'make another appointment', i then reach for my diary and my till.

I only accept cash and cheques and quite often new clients flash the card, this one is harder. But so far (touch wood) they have come back from the cashpoint with the cash.
