In a world of my own....
Hi

Since starting work (part time) as a mobile spray tan therapist, lately, the joints in my knees, right elbow and index finger are aching and getting stiff (obviously from all the bending and using the gun)...... have any of you experienced this and, if yes, any tips to eleviate it or I am just getting bloody old.....

And Collin please no smart comments about going to B&Q!!!:)

Thanks
Jan:hug:

But you could get a kneeling mat from B&Q

Why are you bending, stand to do the back & back of arms, then kneel down to do all the areas of the legs, getting the client to do all the moving round,
then stand up again and finish arms & hands, side of body, front of body and face, hth

Hi, perhaps ask your doctor for a blood test just to rule out any rheuamatisim
or arthritis , x minky

Sorry Lou but that's what I mean - I kneel to do the back/front of legs etc. but my knees are aching a bit....and my elbow is also aching...

I am doing a lot - working in an office four full days a week (8 am - 5pm) cut down from five days which is why I took up spray tanning - which I LOVE, driving to all sorts of places after work, spray tanning late most nights for the last few weeks and trying to make the gym as well (at lunchtime 3/4 times a week) but a girl has to make a few bucks lol:)

Gym instructor says to try glucosamine...

Yoga or Pilate, this is happening because you are asking your body to make repetitive movements that it's not used to.
The day after my waxing course, I could hardly bear to lift my arms, my biceps hurt!
If you go to a taster class for one of the above, you can then get a dvd and spend 20 mins a day or night:eek: following the dvd and loosening up your body.
Remember when you were a kid and could sit cross legged in the school hall for assembly? Bet you couldn't do it now:lol:

Mm-mm way too much in too little time,
i too think all days should have 36 hrs in them to fit everything in lol
Susie is right, exercise that involves lots of stretching will work wonders as will some multivitamins hth

Glucosamine should help, I think Chondritin is also another good one for joint problems.

I'm the same as well especially when doing a party...

Hehe, totally of subject but I loooove to dance, but don't go out much and yet, after a few voddis there I am abusing my body on the dance floor, hobbling around like a pensioner for a good couple of days after and every time I think to my self, I wouldn't use the gym with out a warm up:irked:
Think I should start saying that before beauty work too:lol:

Perhaps we should have a good stretch first!!

As Jackie said Glucosomine and Chondroitin is the way to go. You can get these from Boots but get the Glucosomine 500mg and Chondroitin 400mg for proper effect, the lower dose ones are hopeless! These really work well, I was prescribed them by my doctor for aches and pains and they work. I have also stopped taking them for the pain to return so have tested them both ways! :)

Thanks guys for all the helpful advice.... I don't feel so bad (or old!!)now:) and will take up some of your tips....

Pilates sounds like a plan... and also a quick question regarding Glucosomine 500g and Chondroitin 400g- I presume I take these together?

Jan:lol:

I really think you should see a Doctor before anything else, they will be able to test you and advise on any supplements you should be taking.

Yours knees really shouldn't hurt like that and IMO it needs checking out.

The Glucosomine and Chondroitin come together in the one supplement, and, yes, I would just give your doctor a quick ring if you are concerned about taking supplements. :)

Thanks again guys

Will try the supplements first (no concern taking them) and if that does not work then will think about the doctor!!:)

They will take about 6 weeks to work properly but I noticed a difference within 3 weeks so good luck!!:)

my mum swears by cod liver oil tablets, good the joints xx

Linseed oil from B&Q will get you sorted in no time and you will repel water also....two cures in one

Doctors,Glucosamine, gentle exercise of joints..and getting your body used to the new work you do...in time it will cope with the new strains your putting on it.

If all fails...plenty of wine in the evenings and you wont give a dam :)
