Hi!

Here's a reformed biter I did last week.
She's 48yrs old, and only recently stopped biting her nails.
They are badly misshapen from years of abuse.
The thumbnails LITERALLY curled around the edge of the finger, curling under. They were difficult to file since they were flush against the skin.
While she has stopped biting them, she still 'worries' the surrounding skin, picking and nibbling at it.

In my estimation, they are too long for a biter BUT... she's had them before... with no trouble. Not a chip, crap or whatever. She manages well.
And well..you give the client what she wants, right? LOL

Ok, lemme have it. Straight, honest critique :green:

I think you did a great job! But her poor eponychium  Looks so painful!

Thanks!
Yeah.. the entire time I did them, any time I had to go near the eponychium I fretted.
Two of her 'older' cuts broke open  and I felt horrid (hard to file flush without touching the eponychium now and then...), and she bled.... she kept saying "I don't feel a thing, don't worry about" and I wouldn't be surprised if she really DIDN'T feel a thing.

I probably saw more blood doing her nails the one time, than I see in a year

They look like a lovely job victoria, did you sculpt them ???

What a transformation Victoria she must be thrilled with them

well done they look smashin and loads better i bet u have givin ur client a confidence boost to the moon .. lovely lovely xxx p.s sorry my spellin is pants lol x

They look great, but please kick her for doing so much damage to the eponychiums!!! But I bet you have already:hug::hug::hug:

What a lovely job Victoria, she must be absolutely delighted.

Thanks!
Yes, sculpted. And so her c-curve is not what I would have liked it to be since it more of less follows the path of her own curves.... particularly since I don't "pinch" (not a fan of the idea either..)
Granted, her apex's on her thumbs are much thicker than they actually appear because of how her thumbnails grow.

They turned out loads better than I anticipated, since L&P is still not my forte... but I think given how little practice I've had and it's less than a year of doing it (will be 1yr in March)... I think I'm doing ok.

Both colours are custom blended L&P. The Pink & the glitter black. (I love my local craftshop :)

She is in love with them. :)

PS: if you're wondering... I didn't put a single one of those cuts on her. If you compare before and afters.. you'll see that all the cuts match up LOL
I was worried how that would look :-(

victoria I hope that after a year I will be as good as you.

EEKS Thanks!
But keep in mind..... been doing UV Gel for about 5yrs and gel-resine (aka tip-n-dip) for about ummmmmm 18yrs???
I wasn't a complete novice taking my course.

I just bought a new L&P brush because I just CAN'T get on with the one from my kit... holds too much liquid... Hopefully the new one will better suit 'me'.
My mix ratio in getting the 'perfect' bead is STILL a bugger and I'm still wasting beads and monomer... annoys the CRAP outta me! LOL

Fantastic transformation you should be very proud of those your colour combination is lovely too.

What a great result!!

Well they say you can't make ''a silk purse out of a sow's ear'' well on this occasion that's certainly not the case. They look lovely Victoria....let's hope that this lady will be spurred on by her beautiful nails to stop nibbling her skin!
Well done xx

What a transformation!! She must be thrilled. :) Do you do many l&p clients these days or is gel still you're real comfort zone? Any thoughts on your preferences and why? Just curious!

Whoa..Those are sore looking fingers.

So these are nails that have just grown back after her biting them? I take it she bit them right back for a long time? Do nails that have been bitten like this always grown back so dry and mis-shapen and will they grown back normally is she leaves them be?

Also I thought you wasn't supposed to work on clients with blood exposed or is this only the case if they have a desease and this is fine if she has only been bitting them?>

Sorry never worked on nails like this, so just wondered

x

Thanks everyone!!

I have only 6 so far that are L&P, plus myself. For some of my clients, it wouldn't make sense to switch them over as the gel is ideal for their preferred style of nail art of funky french's (which, I clean the smile line with acetone... not good for L&P).
But for my more adventurous clients, who like the easy change-over's, easy removal for change-overs, the fades and what-not, crushed shells, feathers.... that sort of thing - L&P is IDEAL.

I'm LOVING L&P:!: and I wish I had learned it first.
I still don't get on with Primer and switched to my liquid bonder and my lifting issues have stopped. (I wonder if it's the humid climate here... because my gel requires the same primer, and it just doesn't work for Me)

My beads are still frustrating me, getting them just 'right'.
BUT I am sooooooooooo LOVING L&P. I just figured out how to download a tonne of vids from youtube on 3D stuff.. burned them to DVD yesterday..
Guess what I'm doing this week?

Every biter is different. It depends on 'how' they bite their nails, how far back, how many years... etc. I bit mine for 20yrs and they never looked like that. They're normal now and you'd never know.

Her skin tends to be dry in winter, so it's not related to the biting at all.

Her hands were washed, sanitized, etc.. So no dangers there. And the cuts are from her nibbling/picking, and not from 'disease' as you say.

We have to exercise some common sense and make judgement calls sometimes.

Well done great set!!! I love the design and colours. I hope she realizes how great her hands look, next time she's tempted to bite

Fab work Victoria ... bet she was chuffed with those! xx

they are fab hun !!! well done x
