Hiya :)

Strange title I know, but my 20 month old Jack is coming to the end of her first season and tonight just will not leave me alone! She's trying to get as close to me as physically possible right up to my face, then turning around (little tail stiff and high in the air)

Bless her, I've put her on her cushion so many times but as soon as I sit down on the other sofa, she's there again bum in the air!!

Has anyone experience of this with their female dog? It's our first season so not sure what to expect.

Thanks

:green:

hate to tell you but that is not the end of her season. how long has she been in? When the tail goes up in the air it means she is ready for been mated. They will try anything at this point lol. I'm just waiting for both my ******* to come in. Whatever you do, do not leave the house with her this week.

Thanks Wardo :)

Oh. She's been bleeding for about 2 weeks and we thought it was the end of it yesterday, but today found some more spots on the floor (so glad I have laminate and leather sofas!)

Can I not even take her out on the lead? Only she won't have a 'number two' in our garden, she always waits to go out. Def don't want more little Jacks running around!

xx

nope thats right bang on mating time! I would not dream of taking her any where out of the garden right now. Dont even leave her outside on her own. I know it sounds dramatic but I have known dogs break in to houses to mate. Un like my little dog who decided she was been picky about her boyfriend! She could be a right nightmare for the next week, all dogs are different and its not worth the risk. Its also very un fair on any dogs in the area who still have theie bits. If a a male picks up the sent it can cause all sorts of problems.

If you don't want her to mate then get her 'done' asap

Yeah, I get your point hun, not worth it is it!

yes thats a good point, If you don't want puppys speak to your vet before her next season. Having bitch's in season is really hard work and can last around a month.

Oh Ruth, so did I! LOL! She was found in Brighton :green:

I'm definately getting her 'done' once this is over! We got her two months ago from a rescue home and they weren't sure if she'd had a season or not, so we thought we'd wait til Christmas (sorry Adele :)) and if she hadn't had one (or if indeed she had) we'd do it then. At least I don't have to wait that long now!

Wardo, your dog sounds like she knows what she wants! Lilly, that's soooo funny

LOL, our Pug bitch has been spayed, but that didn't stop Sonia's nan's miniature poodle boy from trying it on ;)

you can get her spayed a month after she has finished her season..well worth it...not only for the points that have already been mentioned but also for health problems she could have later on in life..having her spayed will reduce the risks of her suffering from mammory tumors and womb infections....if you wash her back end it will help with unwanted male attention and if you are going to walk her do it either early morning or late at night when no other dogs are about....lots of vets have schemes for spaying...reduced rates...worth asking hun..x

I think that since none of us on here are vets, if you have an issue maybe a quick call to the vets would help.

I hope you have got some assistance from the thread so far, but I think it is time to close it. We have already had to edit some replies.

Good luck with your ittle doggy! they are a worry arn't they!
