Hey All,

this might seem like a really daft question but do you have any tips on spray tanning yourself? I'm sure i've noticed on a couple of different threads some comments about tanning yourself but it's never occurred to me to try this! I always end up out like a ghost at the weekend while my pals are lovely and brown because i never seem to get round to getting a tan. so if i could do it myself.....:)

thanx for any advice xx

Although it would be handy, sadly it isn't possible to spray yourself hun.
Ive tried to spray my legs and you just cant get the distance between the gun and your skin,so ends up uneven. It would be impossible to spray your back.
Ive trained my boyfriend to do it now. Is there no one you could ask to do it for you? xxx

Please hun i really don't recommend you spray yourself honestly! xxx

Or buy an auto tanning booth that works..... will try to think of one.

Babe why don't you just wear a bikini and let someone spray you? xxx

Trust me, i wouldn't look too good in a bikini and it would certainly get the neighbours talking.

i-tan :Look_righ male

Oh ha ha ha ha oh dear sorry hun!! I thought you were female :smack:
Where abouts are you im sure someone on here would spray you xx

You win, the more i think about it, using the large HVLP guns it would prove awkward to say the least. I use the St Tropez pump fed mini HVLP gun. Means you can spray with the gun upsidedown, sideways, upwards, downwards without spilling everywhere.

Oh now I see lol I was wondering when you were explaining it and was imagining solution going everywhere. What a cool little spray gun!!

This thread is funny  (Not the poster) Kylie couldnt you tell he was a man when he said he wasa shy 'guy' haha...

Anyway back to the question, i wouldnt recommend tanning yourself the only thing i tan on myself is my face and neck:green:

Ha ha I know! what a prat I am lol
I must have skimmed past that bit. That will teach me  xxx

I tried to spray myself once before. Not very successful though. I kept thinking I was missing bits and went over a few times. I was way too dark, lol! Not trying that again.

Sorry was also going to say that I had a hen party yesterday but never got a spray tan the night before. I couldn't be bothered with sleeping with it on. My husband sprayed me with 8% (I normally get 5%, as I've very fair skin) at 2pm and at 4:30 ish I had a shower and took the guide colour off, got ready and went out at 5:30pm.

Today I got up and I've got a lovely tan. It's true that the tan keeps developing even after you have showered. Anyway thats my little tip of today if you don't have much time before an event to get a tan! :)

Happy Mother's Day to all mothers!

I tan, both my son and I are lefties and you have totally cracked us up:hug::hug::lol::lol::lol::lol:

This thread is hillarious. LBR, you are so lucky your hubby can spray you; I am trying to teach my husband to spray tan me and its not going well. I have only just started out spray tanning myself so he does not have luck on his side and I don't have any local friends to spray tan me. Today was my husband's first attempt to spray tan me and I look rediculous. I'm patchy, streaky and blotchy - OMG. So I will follow your advice LBR and go and take a shower in a couple of hours to minimize the effect - hopefully.

I have tried to do a repair buffing with a mit, but later today will be telling. I'm quite scared tbh now, but no one was ever permanently damaged from a bad spray tan........ just laughed at xx

A manual tan is much easier to do on yourself! I have thought of a way to spray your back yourself though. Do it first- bend forward at the waist as low as you can and spray the back from shoulder to hip over your shoulders!-Good luck!

That really made me laugh i-tan!

This has made me laugh at the thought of us all trying to spray tan ourselves! I'm left handed and I like to think I can spray tan ~ unless there's something that my clients aren't telling me...... !xx

Are you from Barking?!!

Ha ha the tip on getting your partner to spray you is- don't ask them late at night, it tends to start a row and for some reason they cant see very well in the dark so you end up looking like one big mess ...oh and carry a whip. The whip is for when he's doing it wrong  ha ha

I'm lucky ...i trained on mine so he kind of has some idea but even after the 100th time I still have to tell him the order in which to do it in. Oh bless them lol xxx

It was first thing in the morning and I think it was my high pitched screaming that annoyed him, either that or he is adopting the same theory as when the kids were in nappies - if I do it really, really bad she wont ask me again........... x

I got my husband to spray me this afternoon. It's only the 2nd time he has done it. The 1st time i had white fingers and a very dark back and some white bits! This time i just have a dark patch on my neck which i'm hoping will not be so noticeable once i have showered and moisturised. :irked:
Overall i'm really pleased as it's only his 2nd time. I got him to wax under my arms yesterday too and it's the first time he has ever waxed and he did a perfect job-i was very impressed!
He did spray boats for years so he is used to handling a spray gun but i think it's because i'm an excellent teacher:lol:
Either that or he's too scared to get it wrong-lol
Well done Mark-i'm proud of you but will leave it a while before i let him loose on my bikini line

Left Handers dont need to spray tan, (forget the fact they can't for now), when they can employ Right Handers to do it for them. Another thing, all spray guns are designed and built for right handed people, a bit like a spoon. Have you ever tried training a Left Handed sprayer - nightmare.

I have taught a number of left handed people to spray tan and not had any problems,
when i teach someone who is left handed i use my left hand myself when doing the demos, this way it is not confusing for them when it comes to them having a go as i have applied the tan exactly the same way as they will do,
i don't find it a nightmare at all.

As for spray tanning yourself its easier to treatment swap with another therapist,
just spray each other,
when i am stuck for someone to spray me i use the top up spray from my product supplier and spray myself with this as it can be used upside or any way up, hth
