Positive Geek
I thought it would be a positive move to start a thread on how to guide geeky requests for help with college assignments/case studies etc..... Hey, I am the first to admit that the willing and knowledgeable on this site, gave me amazing and useful tips to get through my beauty diploma, nails and all! But I had to, and did do the hard work first.
Whilst not wishing to offend genuine requests for guidance or pointers in the right direction, I think it is important to recognize the difference between a request for 'do my homework for me, really appreciate it', or a helping hand and guidance towards useful material which may kick start an assignment..... be it a book or website etc...... And no, Salon Geek is not the place to be 'given the answers!'
Personally speaking, I think directions to websites/books are helpful, although I have seen along the lines of, " I have searched the internet and have 3 books and found very little to help me." Then I find a quick search reveals several answers in 30 seconds.
C'mon geeks, how can we help peeps regards this? We are a professional site. We wish to lend a helping hand, but we won't do your work for you.
What do you suggest?
Oh Mods, I didn't know where to post this so please move if in the wrong forum and sorry in advance.
