OH, I dont think my hubby would like me doing that.... he'd be paraniod. You know what men are like..

Well - my husband could only stand me taking one stip of wax off his back never mind about his tickle tackle!

My husband has his back waxed and he's fine about that, anywhere else and I think he'd do a runner  Believe me I've tried. I keep telling him I'm qualified, but it makes no difference. LOL

Have you come across or given any thought to training for male waxers?

Hi Waxman, if you PM me I can help you out. I'm hoping to post an article of mine here on NailGeek at the end of the month covering all aspects of male waxing, so stay tuned! PM me if you would like any further information.

I could be wrong here but I am sure I have seen that there is to be new legislation and tighter restrictions on therapists providing this service, will pm you with details if I can remember where I saw it.

The only other problem I may face is that I have only ever done sugar strip/hand paste sugaring would this preclude me from your hard wax course Andy? Or could you provide a hand paste sugaring version of the BSC aswell maybe??

Joe, you're absolutely right about the new occupational standards - I was involved in the consultation process with HABIA to write the new "intimate waxing" units, which I have to say are very thorough and I'm 110% behind them.

And you won't be precluded from the course hun - although I specialise in waxing, I'm also qualified in sugaring and still have the ocassional client who prefers the paste ball to the wax, so you'd be very welcome to bring your pot of sugar with you! :)

Andy x :D

hows the course coming along andy??

I have a regular waxing course to go to this month and after some experience would love to do your training course, is it up and running yet :?:

Hi folks,

I will be launching the course as soon as HABIA publish their new occupational standards for Intimate Waxing (which I was involved in). There seems little point in doing so before then, as the new units will very likely have insurance implications for all therapists (and trainers) wishing to offer intimate waxing services in the future.

The good news is, I have written the course to meet the new male waxing standards - so it is essentially ready to roll. I am still trying to find a photographer for the training manual, however, so if anybody knows someone who isn't squeamish and doesn't charge the earth, please point them in my direction! :D

Can't wait will the course be in Manchester?

lol Andy can't wait to meet you in Glasgow then!!

I am sure I could round up all the Scottish geeks:hug:

Seriously though I would be really intersted in your course so please keep me posted

Cant believe I missed this first time around, I'd also be interested in doing this, I'm having trouble finding someone to show me female brazillian at the moment. Every course I've enrolled on has been cancelled due to people pulling out.

Maybe Gloria could do the photos!

Dont we have a photographer here on the site , seanny ? i may have spelt that wrong but hth

If i was you i would pm axiom about your offer, who knows once his training course is up and running you could be his full time model, there are loads of us interested in this course but i can imagine it will be hard for most of us to find the models so your offer is ideal ( no puns intended lol )

Good point Louise, thanks

Sparkey (and anyone else reading this), I keep a list of guys around the country willing to act as models - please send me a PM if you are interested in modelling or being a case study for training purposes :)

I'm not aware of any salon in my area offering this service, so there's certainly an opportunity to gain further clients.

Downside for me is I work from home. This is probably not suitable and I'm not sure what my neighbours would be thinking......seeing men come and go:lol:

As far as cost effectiveness goes- if they come to you approx £120 for the day is good, with a minimum of 2 people. with only one, you would earn at least this for a days work so you still need to be earning money, plus your insurance would prob be higher (just a guess).
I should imagine this to be a popular course and think its a great idea- maybe you could have a minimum entry requirement of two years waxing experience (approx) to ensure you are getting the competent waxers and less risk of any mishaps.
Goodluck x

Guys can get a Brazilian wax just as easily as a women. You do not have to be erect, if your therapist knows what she is doing. I personally wax many men and each one always says after it's over; it wasn't that bad.
If you live in the Pittsburgh Pa. area and are interested in getting a Brazilian, come in and see me. Shelly at Capristo salon. I asure, you woun't be disapointed. 412-361-8721:)
