Hi,
I have been out of touch with my Nail technician profession for a while ; (
And am just getting back in slowly but surely and was looking for some advice, on something that maybe really simple! I have never used white tips before,, and would like to know if you have to buff over the tip and blend as you would a clear tip? Would the white tip not loose some of it's whiteness!? Hope that makes sense lol ta xxx

yes it would use it's whiteness and it would loose its lovely crisp smile.

IF you HAVE to use white tips, you just need to 'gently' remove the shine.

Unless you use the new well less tips when Gigi demo'd them with the popits she showed us that you don't need to do anything to them, just glue them on and away you go.

Most white tips dont need blending, i used the edge white tips in college they werent well less and they didnt need blending at all

Hi Hun,
I use performance white tips by Creative, they are fab, no blending, didn't buff them either, they have been on nearly 3 weeks, not a budge on them, will put a new set on next week.
I hammer mine, I work with my hubby, I make tubs of candy floss, work chocolate fountains, and type most of the day, 75% on this site, he thinks I am working invoices etc...........
I must admit this is the 1st time I have not used nail bond / glue to put them on, used what I believe is the old fashioned way and put the tips on with acrylic, I think it is much better, I hate glue on my natural nail, this way I feel they are protected with a layer of acrylic, the next set will go on this way too.
Good luck with your tips.
Lotsa luv  x x

Sorry, let me clarify:lol: White tips don't need blending, if you blend as already said you will loose the crisp smile line. What most techs have been taught is that you must carefully remove the shine from your white tip to ensure the acrylic bonds to the tip.
The newest well less tips do not need the shine removing to make the acrylic bond to the tip and are much much thiner then The Edge tips so giving a much much nicer finish to the enhancements.
Thats what I get for replying quickly :smack:

?dumb question - but do you apply to the tip or directly to the nail just a small amount or a thin layer all over the nail?

can i ask what well less tips are we talking about? the only ones ive found so far are the inm exact ones but i dont like the deep smile line it doesnt look good unless you have really long nail beds which most people dont have. just wondering as im looking for new white tips that are easy to blend and well less to be able to use the popits.

thanks

If you are using l/p you don't need to remove the shine from a white tip.

If you are using gel, then yes you do need to remove the shine, otherwise the gel has nothing to cling on to and will generally peel off.

You don't need to blend white tips, you can pre-taylor them if you need to.

Hey Giz,

Have you tried all the fab new products yet? Performance tips are thinner, more flexible, well-less, need absolutely no blending and are also 'dull' needing no shine removed...amazing! Let me know if you would like a demo of all the latest stuff.

CND white perfomance tips are the best to be used with popits) They dont need blending as Fiona and others mentioned already, they have a beautiful sharp smile and are really thin))

I have tried using these with gel and abviously gel was peeling off the tips in a couple of days as UV light cant really penetrate the white tip, which was a bit new to me as NSI taught we could use white tips with gel(even though gel was not peeling but it was clearly separating from the tip letting dirt and make up be trapped at the edge - EWHHHH)

If you have an opportunity to visit Fingertips Centre for a demo you should go, I love that place - always leaving with something new learned)))):)

hope this helps

I have never blended, or removed the shine EVER from any white tips. I have never had problems (using L&P). Try putting some on a shiney white tip & see for yourself for practise - it won't come off.
I have not, however, used white tips for about 3 years as I learn't to sculpt the white, which is far better.
If you want to use PopIts, then you should get the CND Performance White, as everyone has said .

white tips dont need to be blended, its only clear tips that needs to be blended. the reason behind this is because some people might just want clear overlay and blending the clear tip can make the nail look as natural as possible without an obvious well line.

But for white tips you need the line for the smile line, if you blend it, the french nails wont look as sharp as it should be. So dont go blending white tip.
