Just got a couple of colors and top coat but I did one nail and stopped because when I would apply the top coat, a lot of color got on the brush. I don't want to ruin the top coat by leaving color on it. Any ideas?

I merged this in with the existing thread so have a look through this thread and see if you find your answer.

I tried yesterday, you have to work REALLY fast as it dries so quickly. I tried cream puff over blackpool.

I have ridged nails .... So I personally will not be a. VINYLUX girl on my natural nails .... I have got way too used to how nice my nails look with Shellac SO. ....... My solution is that I have been wearing just the Brisa Lite Smoothing gel followed by VINYLUX; the finish looks just like Shellac and I can re-paint every week or two so my nails always look perfect.

Painting my nails used to be a pain with all the time they took to dry so that aspect has now been completely removed when using VINYLUX; I'm really very very happy with it and the results. And I have to say I love that BL smoothing gel. I think women will adore Vinylux and I think I am going to be selling it as fast as I can get it in.

I don't see it as a negative thing at all, that V won't suit some ladies; that gives me the opportunity to sell my other services to them so that it does! I think I can offer any solution now to any clients needs or wishes.

Check how you are holding your brush it needs to be almost parallel to the nail, also your brush needs to be loaded with the topcoat, and when applying you are floating it across the nail with your brush just on the topcoat, it should not touch the colour coat at all.
Basic polishing technique.

If you do get colour on your brush you need to wipe it off before replacing it in the bottle to make sure you don't contaminate it.

I'm loving Vinylux after initially being sceptical about it! Its going to be hard to get out of the Shellac/Gelish habit though - I nearly wiped 'the tacky layer' with scrubfresh before!!

I might be reading this wrong but you will dull the shine off Gelish or Shellac if you wipe off 'the tacky layer' with scrubfresh because of the acetone in it, you should wipe the final layer off with IPA.

Just wondered if anyone's tried stamping using Vinylux?

Thanks! X

I haven't tried stamping with it, but have stamped over it using konad polish, and then the vinylux top coat. The top coat went on lovely, no smudging or anything and dried so quickly!

Haven't got my hands on it yet but can anyone tell me how to adhere glitter to Vinylux if it dries so quickly? Xx

I'm guessing you'd have to do one nail at a time. So after second colour coat, quickly apply glitter or you could apply the glitter to the top coat x

Thank you, I will try that. I had posted this in the consumer forum but got merged here for all you lovely ladies to help. I am not a nail tech but an esthetician soooo I have no skills;)

I used it last night on myself it's a dream to put on, I never leave myself enough time to do my own nails lol I had 15 mins before we went out for my husbands birthday. They look beautiful I kept looking at them all night lol. Very shiney xxxx

Morning geeks.
would foils work with vinylux.

I bought some foils the other day and I did 2 colour coats then I top coated then glue then foil then top coated again.
It worked and I was dead chuffed but later on in the day the foil started peeling at the edges. The vinylux was fine underneath a bit dull but otherwise still intact..

What did I do wrong?

Morning. Can we use hardener underneath first? I sold my first lot of Vinylux yesterday to a customer who doesn't come to me for nail services. Which I was quite pleased about. She asked if she could use her nail hardener underneath the system first. I didn't know so my suggestion was to try it without first and then next application try it with the hardener base.

The skills associated with polishing to achieve a professional finish are four fold.

1. Amount ... The amount of polish on your brush should be enough to cover the surface of the nail in one thin coat coat so that you do not have to re-dip into the polish. Adding polish to a partially covered nail will make the surface uneven and drag the colour.

2. Touch ... Should be light as a feather with a parallel brush ( the brush should never bend where the hair meets the shaft of the brush, when polishing. If your brush bends, it is a show that your pressure is way to heavy and that you need to lighten your touch.

3. Accuracy ... Your colour coat needs to be applied leaving just the merest hairs breadth of a free margin surrounding the nail plate; almost up to but never touching the skin. Leaving a tiny free margin makes the illusion of sleek perfect nails.

4. Speed ... ( particularly with a super fast drying polish like VINYLUX) the Second coat and top coat should be applied quickly and with as few strokes as possible, just inside the perfect perimeter lines you have created with your first colour coat. It is essential to apply these coats as quickly as you can so that the polish doesn't 'melt' or soften the polish underneath and drag it.

It is easy to be super quick with the second colour coat and top coat because you don't have to create the perfect edges; that is the job of the first colour coat. All you need to do is apply quickly down the nail and just avoiding the edges. :)

Have fun with VINYLUX !! It is a joy :)

Was there a definitive answer with regards to applying Vinylux over Brisa Lite Smoothing gel? Completely finish the BL or apply on top of the inhibition layer? Thanks! X

I finish with a complete application of BL Smoothing gel and the apply VINYLUX after wiping off the inhibition layer.

Help! I used Vinylux on myself on Thursday, still not chipped but seems to be shrinking away from the free edge even though I capped it! Anyone else having this problem??

Could this just be wear and tear - I can't see how it could shrink once applied?

Sounds like its just wearing at the free edge slightly. Don't think nail polish can shrink back :)
