I thought I had plenty of gauze in the salon but just realised that the gauze I have left is teeny tiny pieces when I need enough to cover the full face for a certain facial I do.

I have 2 booked in tomorrow and I have to have enough gauze to cover the whole face, I have been to tesco and they have nothing suitable neither do boots. My local wholesaler only had 10cm by 10cm squares, I need 40 by 40 or a roll at least by 10am tomorrow morning !!!

Is there anything i could use instead ?

Not a beauty person but..... isn't this the same stuff that you would use to wax a car ? It is called gauze and you coudl get a roll of it from halfords - may sound odd and if it is feel free to make me feel stupid but could be worth a look - tescos may have in the home/car section.

I get mine from a pharmacy, I have to ask for it as it isnt usually on display

hth

If that doesn't work.. you could get some gauze in your local pharmacy.. it's nice and thin and should do the job HTH

Sorry .. not typing fast enough:green:

Interesting !

I have just looked on halfords website but can't see any, is it like the gauze you get in first aid kits ?

I will try chemists first thing tomorrow morning, I hope to god they've got rolls or a big sizes as I can't do this facial without gauze !!

If not halfords here I come lol

I am pretty sure you can get some rolles up gauze according to my cousin i rang her and she is a pharmacist...they stock some in her work place but it is in Portsmouth...a little too fare i think..LOL

Anyway try the pharmacy Juliette:hug:

How long do you reckon it will take to get there if i leave now

There is one just round corner from me if by some cruel twist of fate they have 'sold out' do you think a doctors pharmacy would sell me some ?!

I seriously am going to be in a mess If I don't get this gauze as will have to cancel both facials, there is no alternative facial i could offer as they are having the top anti ageing one as it is.

Thank you, Could I take it apart to use in facial ?

In an emergency, I think yes, you could. It's not sterile but if it's brand new it will be clean. It's a little more stretchy than the gauze we're used to but I do think you could get away with it.

Well I didn't manage to get any gauze !

I went to several pharmacys and all they had was 10 x 10 and various other sizes also most of them had a sticky side. In desperation I bought a few of the 10 x 10 then discovered they weren't soft gauze almost rubbery with a padded centre :grr::grr:

By the time Id got to work I was really panicking but both of the facials had bloody cancelled and rearranged for next week !!! Still not sure if its a good or bad thing as although it meant I had time to order supplies from wholesalers it meant I lost £83 in treatments which have been re-booked but as I have gone down to 2 days a week Im pretty sure I could of filled those slots so I have basically lost out on the money !!

I was in the same situation as you a few weeks ago Juliette and I got mine form the pharmacy - it was on a 1 metre square roll and I just cut it up into appropriate size pieces to get me out of a hole.

I am surprised that you did mange to get any. I bet them cancelling was just as annoying though.

I have had the same exact problems bombini, I local chemist will order me 35 by 35 but I have to buy it in bulk and its like £12.

I use muslin now, I get it from the local haberdashery in boyes and cut it into squares and works perfectly.

I have bought gauze on rolls from superdrug but it wasn't very good, to narrow.

Another suggestion, the gauze masks you get from the wholesaler, with the eyes and mouth cut out, are they not just plain gauze or are they impregnated with stuff?

I also have used the disposable mop caps before, cut the elastic out and used that.

I have only ever used the 40 x 40 gauze which I got in a massive box about 18 months ago and I can't for the life of me remember where I bought it from, can't even find the damn receipt but Im sure it cost me quite a lot as I had loads.

Haven't used the rolls of gauze since college which is what Ive ordered from Ellisons so Im hoping that it does actually fit the the face and isn't the width of a postage stamp or something similar !!

Not sure about the ones with pre cut eyes/mouth but my masks go over both so need gauze to go over everything but nose.

I couldn't believe that NONE of the pharmacys had gauze on a roll, they didn't even seem to understand what I wanted !!! I was actually considering going to the hospital to beg for some !

Just hope the ellisons order is here before Wednesday !

I must be cursed.

I ended up ordering from salons direct as they had the pre cut 40 x 40 gauze and ellisons were out of stock of the rolls.

Order arrived today they'd only gone and sent 10 x 10 gauze !!!! It even says on the order form 40 x 40.

:grr::grr:
