First of all i'm really losing confidence when I wax eyebrows. I panic if someone comes who hasn't had them done before or for a long time and I have to make the shape!! Also a few times I have waxed and it seems to stick and hardly pull any hairs out. Am I putting wax on too thick? Not pressing hard enough? I'm really having a mental blank here!!!!

Next one is I use Peron Rigot Euroblonde, does anyone have any problems keeping it to correct temp? I've just swapped my Hive heater as thought it was the problem but the new one is the same!!! Its either too hot or not hot enough!!

Thanks, Sarah xx

With regard to your second question, are you keeping your pot topped up.? It is much easier to regulate the temperature if the pot is kept full. (And at no. 3 on the dial :green:)

With regard to your first question, are you using strip or non-strip?

Using strip wax (Cristal Ocean)for eyebrows. I've just filled my pot up so will see how it goes thanks

I would never use strip wax on eyebrows, try using a non strip wax, its much easier to get the shape right and your client will love you for it!

I use hive 1000cc heaters. I have mine on number 3 for strip wax and number 2 for non-strip.
Your non-strip wax should be at about 60 degrees. The wax should still be hard in the centre. If your wax is completely melted then it's too hot.
Take the wax from the sides and keep the centre unmelted (is that a word!)

I agree with Angelina, the best consistency is when the wax is melted on the outside but still gloopy (here is another one that probably doesnt exist) in the middle.

I find it very hard to give temperatures or dial settings as every heater is different and more so every room seems to be different. If you have a warm day with sunshine and big windows you can even have to turn the heater on the lowest temperature, likewise if the room is relative fresh you might have to turn it up.

Once you get used to your wax and heater its best to watch the wax for the right consistency.
hth

If you are using strip wax on the eyebrows, you need to apply it very thinly and press the strip firmly and support the skin whilst removing.

If you apply the wax too thickly, then press down firmly, guess what will happen...? yes! that's right, the wax will spread and the client will lose their eyebrow

What are you applying the strip wax with, to the eyebrow?

Thanks everyone. I use orange sticks to apply the wax with, tried splitting wooden spatula's in half but thought these would be better

Hi Sassy, I read on here about someone using the wooden coffee stirers from Mac Donalds, have now swapped to them, they are brilliant for the job. I get my son to get a handfull every so often!!!

Start using Euroblonde for brows too. Split your spat and always keep the point against the brow. Apply it nice and thin, but thick enough to release at the end. Stretch the brow from both sides. Press the wx into the hairs to really grab them. xxx

I think eyebrows can be waxed successfully with strip wax, especially if the hairs are very fine. I use both. I take a look, then decide which wax to use. Many many excellent therapists use strip wax for brows.

Ok, I'm going to risk the wrath of Kim, Britta and probably Lori too, but I think eyebrows can be waxed successfully with strip wax, especially if the hairs are very fine. I use both. I take a look, then decide which wax to use. Many many excellent therapists use strip wax for brows.

I totally agree Zoe. I only recently started using hot wax. Just out of interest, try doing brows with hot wax but keep the wax hot and thin. I bet you like it. xx

Eughhhhhhhhh!
Please don't use stirrers from Macdonalds. You don't know how many people have been touching them! Someone may have just been to the toilet and not washed their hands and then stuck their hand over the stirrers!
I use coffee stirrers but i but them by the box. They are very cheap so no need to steal from Macdonalds!

Zoe, its about professional opinions and advice and I personally believe through all the experience i have had that non strip wax is the best to use for this treatment. hth.

Good point on the hygiene aspect ..its no more coffee for me next time I visit McDonald's :eek:and great idea with the coffee stirrers...how do they compare in price to lollipop sticks

I know what yo mean - sometime it's a little scary but do as you were taught with the orange stick (corner of nose to corner of eye) to see what NEEDS to come off then you can determine (by asking too) what shape and how thin they want them. If the wax is sticking then yes it's too thick.snap a small piece off a wooden spatula(be careful not to have splinters of wood off the side) i find this helps get to the smaller area to be waxed. I also use a tweezer for the little ones it's difficult to get after i've waxed. I can't answer 2nd qs as i don't know about that wax sorry. I'm sure you'll be fine : )
